Role Overview:
Ideally suited for a recently qualified ACA/ACCA accountant with an audit background looking to develop their group reporting and finance systems skills.
The requirement of the role is to carry out the consolidation, internal and external reporting and analysis of the group financial information to the ultimate parent undertaking, Sony Corporation.
You will also have a focus on finance systems through supporting the SAP Business Process team and Group Finance team with all system change requirements. Include dealing with a number of internal partners, management of reporting time-frames and an understanding of group financial performance to a product margin level.
It is important to have great technical, systems and organisational skills as well as being pro-active and a sound communicator.
What you'll be doing:
Month end responsibilities
- Own the territory reporting review process including reviewing monthly analytic submissions
- Own the top level monthly consolidation adjustments process including calculating and posting adjustments in areas such as price protection, revenue deferrals, returns and inter-company eliminations
- Run consolidation procedures in SAP including eliminations and revaluations
- Prepare the reporting file of primary statements for submission into the group reporting tool
- Reconcile territory IFRS16 lease reporting
- Prepare IFRS adjustments for dual reporting
- Complete primary statements, balance sheet and supplementary packages in the group reporting tool under US GAAP and IFRS
- Ensure SOx compliance on all month end responsibilities
Additional Month End Reporting
- Prepare responses to questions from Sony Corporate
- Coordinate deliverables for the group audit
Finance Systems
- System Change Request process management
- SAP Business Process team coordination
- Financial system testing – day to day support and coordination for ad-hoc projects
- Finance SharePoint/Teams/Trello super user
- Main Group Finance contact for general ledger master data change requests
- Creation of new non product materials
- Finance systems partner management
Forecast
- Prepare monthly top-level adjustment forecast and communicate with planning team
Tax
- Work closely with the tax team on quarterly tax reporting including preparing the quarterly group tax forecast, posting top level tax adjustments and completion of tax packages within the group reporting tool
- Preparation of other tax related information for annual reporting and ad-hoc requests
Financial Statements
- Prepare statutory financial statements under FRS101
- Coordinate deliverables for the statutory audit
What we're looking for:
- Qualified Accountant with experience with working on multi-currency consolidations
- Strong technical accounting skills
- Experience of US GAAP and IFRS
- Finance systems literate
- Knowledge of SAP desired
- Advanced excel skills essential
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Good organisational ability, pro-active and self-motivated
- Inquisitive and always keen to learn more
- Good communicator (both written & verbal) with the personal credibility and ability to establish effective relationships with staff up to senior management level within both Finance and non-Finance functions.
