Director, Client Engagement & Accounts- San Mateo

We are an in-house agency at Sony PlayStation® that specializes in marketing everything PlayStation® related. We are seeking a Director, Client Engagement & Accounts to join our Global Marketing Services and manage all account relations for our clients through an energetic motivated team of Account Managers.

This role supports marketing and advertising needs by overseeing multiple account teams and client relationships. The right candidate is responsible for the successful development and execution of campaigns and projects to support our client’s business needs and consumer demand. Experience managing large portfolio of complex accounts and serve as the point of contact with a focus on consistency and productivity across accounts. Building effective relationships with executive-level to mid-level client contacts; responsible for executing all day-to-day account activities including the coordination of all Tier 1 and 2 creative projects from estimation to completion. Partners with the broader Global Marketing to ensure deliverables are completed in an efficient manner - on time and on budget. Utilizes an understanding of the Company's and the client's industry, business, and products to find opportunities to sell/propose additional strategic solutions to meet existing client needs. The Director will manage a team of 4 Account Managers and work directly with our Resources Management/Project Management team located globally within various SIE headquarters.

We are looking for someone who has an expert knowledge of all creative’s professional aptitudes and a keen knowledge of the timing involved to accomplish assigned tasks. This role will plan for incoming Tier 1 and 2 projects and implement resource changes against evolving priorities. You will work closely with our Operations, Creative Studio, Design Adaption and Concept/Ideation teams to ensure that creative projects are properly allocated against the functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Successfully build client relationships and trust for a large-complex portfolio and lead internal Account team.
  • Partner effectively with external agencies and internal partners (clients, operations, media, public relations, insights, etc.) to deliver on PlayStation’s goals.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of creative briefs, scope of work and GTM documents with all business units.
  • Develop processes and ways of working to increase Global Creative Services client communications.
  • Work with limited direction, usually within a complex and often ambiguous environment, to drive rigorous, fact-based recommendations.
  • Prioritize project activities and coordinate resources to achieve project goals.
  • Leads the Client Engagement/Account Management group to ensure seamless coordination with creative team, client & external agency partners.
  • Project budget management and reconciliation.
  • Working with agency leadership team and cross-functions on a regular basis to ensure alignment, coordination and advancement of agency processes.
  • Liaises with agency senior management to ensure that issues affecting client service and creative projects are communicated and resolved.
  • Initiating training and development opportunities for Account team.
  • Track record of delivering integrated global campaign assets for large global brands, on strategy, on budget and on time.
  • Conduct and own client meetings, communications, status reports, agency reporting and finding new opportunities.
  • Maintains big picture strategic and operational thinking balanced by a strong attention to detail.

Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills to lead and mentor an internal team and influence clients.
  • 15+ years proven experience in Advertising, Marketing, Client Relationship Management/Client Services, or previous management position in Advertising, Marketing or Creative Agency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Communication, Marketing, or a related field. Preferred: An advanced degree or professional certification requiring formal training.
  • Previous experience successfully leading a large portfolio and leading Account teams
  • Strong management and critical thinking skills.
  • Indirectly manage Project Management team to ensure projects are streamlined within the IHA, and communication of timelines, schedules, estimates, and deliverables are met consistently.
  • Strong knowledge of business models, objectives, financial metrics, etc. used in decision-making.
  • Extensive experience leading and managing the development and implementation of large and complex creative initiatives
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to identify and execute effective solutions.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and develop collaborative relationships with colleagues across the company; willingness to work with global colleagues at all levels.
  • Impeccable presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience using: Project management workflow software, Digital Asset Management Software, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Advocates for the client and consumers (gamers)
  • Strategic problem solver with the ability to initiate and complete complex projects.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple projects with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all internal partners and external business contacts

  • Present themselves as a salesperson, strategist, creative, and have an excellent grasp of the business.
  • Detailed understanding of PlayStation’s market and business environment.
  • Ability to build new relationships and nurture existing relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Detailed understanding of the assigned clients’ products and services.
  • Keeps abreast of larger industry trends and how they impact our client's business
  • Comprehensive understanding of effective Creative Design, Copywriting, and Video practices, trends, techniques, and processes across all touchpoints and mediums (e.g. campaigns, packaging, in-store, digital, mobile/app, print, direct, interactive, and video).
  • Ability to forecast projects within SLAs and available resources.
  • Ability to manage heavy workloads, prioritize work appropriately, and meet assigned deadlines including aggressive timelines; strong organizational and analytical skills with an attention to detail.
  • Innovative, forward-thinking, and high-energy to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel globally
