Playsport Games is a supportive and friendly games studio based in Guildford, where everyone plays a full and active role in developing top quality games!

We’re a passionate and hardworking team with a single aim: making top quality sports games.

As a small team, Playsport is a perfect place for talented developers. We’re looking for people who are excited to get close to the action and want to be deeply involved in the development of a quality game.

We’ve just moved into brand new custom built studio space in the heart of Guildford. It’s posh and there are plenty of nice pubs nearby.

The role

Playsport Games focuses on high quality internal QA testing for all our games and as a Tester you will have a fundamental role in our development process and will work closely with art, design and programming colleagues on each project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in a Agile environment to help deliver quality builds and bug reports
  • Evalute testing environment and testing schedules
  • Report on design flaws, technical issues and project status
  • Identify and isolate errors, bugs and potential risks with pre-release software
  • Report and track issues (Creating detailed descriptions of issues and accurate reproduction steps)
  • Work with Production, Designers, Programmers and Artists to improve the overall gameplay experience by suggesting improvements and changes
  • Completing ad-hoc requests made to the QA team
  • Providing support to other departments as needed.

Skills the role needs

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Pro-active and self-motivated attitude
  • Proven logical and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Track record of working well within a team
  • Previous experience in QA games testing roles
  • Able to identify, explain and record details accurately
  • Understanding of how to test and find defects in a video games
  • Awareness of deadlines and corresponding actions that need to be taken
  • Sense of humour?
  • Confidence to communicate effectively with internal and external teams

Desirable but not essential

  • Knowledge of JIRA and Test Rail
  • Passion for video games
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Experience with destructive testing methodology and practices
