OVERVIEW

We are looking for a super switched on Senior 3D Artist to help contribute to our amazing original IP mobile titles.

As a candidate you would be a proven professional in your field, with the ability to guide a product along the development process and help provide a vision to all members of the team. You will share knowledge and provide mentorship to other artists.

You excel in all areas of your skill set. This includes both the final visual quality of the work and also the quality from a technical standpoint i.e performance and integration. You will be key to keeping your projects on track and reporting back to your lead from both a quality and technical standpoint, while also being a key member of our team providing support where necessary to all members of Playside.

This role is full-time, based in-house. We can consider permanent or in-house contract employment but not freelance or agencies. You must be able to legally work in Australia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To provide exceptional visual quality on your projects to create a fun and engaging experience.
  • Identification and assistance in the creation of documentation in projects you are tasked to.
  • Ability to work on a technical level with all members of staff in all areas of expertise.
  • Working alongside the other Art team members in a professional manner. And providing thoughts on improvements to all projects studio-wide.
  • Implement feedback from Lead Artist and Art Director.
  • Liaise with Art Lead & producers within the scheduling phase of projects to ensure art implementation is within time/budget.
  • Work with Art Lead & Director to reinforce art style and to resolve stylistic questions.
  • Review progress of art team tasks and communicate potential issues to Art Lead and Producer.
  • Improve workflow and efficiency by sharing experience and skill, both verbally and through presentations and/or documentation.
  • To help in reinforcing great teamwork and amazing studio culture!

REQUIRED SKILLS​

  • 5+ years of experience in video game production with multiple shipped titles in an artist role.
  • Ability to contribute to a vision and help guide your projects to success.
  • Experience providing mentorship and training to more junior members of the team.
  • Exceptional level of understanding of software including Maya, Photoshop and Substance Painter.
  • Advanced level of knowledge in using Unity Game Engine.
  • Create high-quality game-ready models and scenes with minimal direction and a high level of autonomy that work optimally within the engine and platform constraints.
  • Review progress of art team tasks and communicate potential issues to Art Lead and Producer.
  • Work with Art Lead to reinforce art style and to resolve stylistic questions.
  • Excellent technical understanding of current asset workflows, shaders, and engine capabilities.
  • Improve workflow and efficiency by sharing experience and skill, both verbally and through presentations and/or documentation.
  • Excellent initiative, self-motivation, communication, organisational and problem solving skills, as well as team working and the ability to accept and follow direction
  • The ability to prioritise and work on multiple tasks simultaneously and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently to get the job done without day-to-day direction.
  • Understanding of mobile / console games and the industry as a whole.
  • Conduct strategy audits with your lead to identify further opportunities to improve the way we do things.
  • Think on their feet and act quickly.
  • Have a can-do with the ability to turn a negative into a positive, no problem is too great.

BONUS POINTS

  • Strong 2D concept art skills to communicate vision and ideas.
  • Good knowledge in either HLSL, Amplify, Shader Forge, or similar shader development tools for Unity.
  • Knowledge in using the Unity Particle System to create visually appealing and well communicated visual effects for games.
