Graphics Engineer

As a Graphics Engineer at PlayEveryWare you'll make significant contributions to high-profile game projects while partnering with both indie and AAA development teams as part of your day-to-day.

This opportunity is for a full-time, benefits eligible position in either Seattle, WA, USA or Yokohama, Japan. Due to COVID-19, all positions at PlayEveryWare are subject to remote interviews and work at this time.

Graphics Engineer
In this role you’ll work closely with engineering and project leadership to own graphics and rendering optimization efforts across our game teams. You’ll do this by effectively communicating with multi-level stakeholders inside and outside of our company with the goal of implementing and optimizing real time rendering algorithms that push the limits of graphics hardware on consoles and PC. As part of your day-to-day you’ll write highly performant, compliant, and maintainable code alongside indie and AAA developers. You’ll also play a key role in building and extending internal coding practises as well as mentoring junior team members.

What you will do

  • Work closely with engineering, project, and studio leadership to deliver high quality engineering solutions to complex rendering and optimization problems
  • Improve studio tools and contribute to rendering pipeline improvements
  • Debug, diagnose, and fix bugs across multiple platforms
  • Manage large code bases using Perforce/Git
  • Diagnose issues in code
  • Participate in code reviews and mentor fellow engineers on best practices
  • Help establish and extend good coding practices where needed

What you will bring

  • 2+ years of professional graphics and/or tools programming experience
  • 3+ years of experience in game development or 6+ years in a related industry
  • 3+ years of experience using Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) or Unity
  • Previous experience working with DirectX11+ APIs and modern console architecture
  • Knowledge of 3D math applicable to game development

Nice to have

  • Ability to work independently to create, extend, and iterate tools and pipelines
  • Experience developing high-profile game titles in UE4 or Unity
  • Experience with cross-platform software development in an agile environment
  • Outstanding communication and documentation skill
  • BA/BS degree in computer science or equivalent experience
