PlayerLands is a venture capital-backed shopping platform designed from the ground up for video games. It lets developers and PC game server-owners set up secure, good-looking, user-friendly stores that sell in-game items to players. There is a share options scheme available for employees.
As Lead Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for directing and building a growing team. Your experience and proven management track record will help them develop best practices like effective source control, daily build and automated deployments. We’re a start-up, so the ability to muck in and get the job done is an essential part of your mindset.
You’ll be working with non-technical stakeholders, so your strong communication skills and ability to think and work in an agile manner will help you turn fuzzy requirements into practical, well-architected working systems. You’ll also need to innovate on the fly, applying your ingenuity to the issues of the day, whilst keeping an eye on mid- and long-term goals.
We’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer who’s able to focus on delivery in a lean environment, with an egoless approach and the ability to recruit a team we can rely on for its technical excellence. This is an opportunity to build a department and its supporting systems, applying creativity and attention to detail in a rapidly growing organisation.
Experience
An understanding of video games, payment providers, messaging queuing, distributed APIs and components would all be an advantage, as would having several years’ engineering experience to back up your judgements.
