Panda Global’s YouTube branch serves a large group of our players and influencers by helping to manage, optimize and improve their YouTube pages and videos, and there is a robust staff maintained to help create the best conditions possible for YouTube growth. The YouTube Growth Manager acts as someone who oversees the success of these channels and the teams that maintain them each, helping each channel carve out their short- and long-term goals by regularly reviewing our on-brand channels to make sure they are meeting explicit criteria, offering suggestions for trends or practices other channels find successful, and maintaining deep analyses of each channel’s successes and failures. In a staff full of individuals looking at the smaller details of the channels they’re working on, the YouTube Growth Manager is responsible for bringing big-picture ideas and reorientations to channel teams. The YouTube Growth Manager works across the full YouTube staff and reports directly to the CEO of Panda Global.

What this position entails:

  • Regularly check in with channel managers to learn about current trends and experiments happening in each individual channel (and hold them accountable for these experiments and lessons learned in practice)
  • Draw conclusions about larger channel growth through deep-dives in YouTube analytics, specifically focused on long-term growth and brand development for the talent
  • Keep the Head of Content informed about channels that are struggling and flourishing alike, and help the Head of Content identify problem areas in channel execution and growth

What sort of background is necessary:

  • High level Experience growing multiple YouTube channels, or a network, to success. Defined by large overall viewership, subscriber count (high 6 figures or 7 figures), and strong branding.
  • Knowledge of YouTube and its algorithms, best practices, and trends is a must. The YouTube Growth Manager must constantly be checking their knowledge against new developments and industry folks in the know
  • A background knowledge of gaming beyond the scope of Panda Global’s offerings is important. Though our channels aim to serve the communities represented in their content, proper growth comes from pulling from experiences and successes outside the scope of those communities, and the YouTube Growth Manager should feel comfortable analyzing statistics and practices for channels outside of the realm of one-versus-one competitive gaming.

What qualities make you shine for this position:

  • Able to see the big picture: This job relies heavily on the Growth Manager’s ability to see past the smaller conflicts or challenges a channel is facing in order to develop broad, long-term goals and hold each channel to them. Someone who is easily distracted by novelty or detail may not be a proper fit for this position.
  • Procedurally-minded: As this position involves a lot of deep analyses across multiple channels, it is important that the YouTube Channel Manager go about their job with consistency in mind; if experiments or projects are undertaken in one channel, they must be applied consistently elsewhere to generate valuable conclusions for the team.
  • Communicative: An enormous piece of this job is coordinating efforts between Channel Managers, the Head of Content, and the rest of the YouTube team. Though the YouTube Growth Manager does not directly oversee many of the staff members in the YouTube department, they do need to be able to clearly and professionally communicate observations, analyses and conclusions to folks across the team.
