The Blizzard Overwatch League is looking for an experienced and talented regional IT events manager to help lead regional aspects of IT operation. This includes development & execution of the IT event process, management of operating assets, developing an essential strategic partnership with a logistics companies for shipping/receiving, warehousing, asset management, IT project management, incident management, root cause analysis, and the hiring and development of staff in regional locations. This position works extensively with direct reports within regions working remotely and other centralized HQ teams including legal, corporate finance, corporate IT, and IT live events. The ideal candidate is very detailed oriented, a champion of the process, and an excellent communicator (both verbal and written). This position will be based remotely in China

This individual serves as a critical resource on projects, working directly with project managers to implement solutions and complete tasks associated with the Overwatch League.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage several remote teams to plan and execute live Esport events
  • Interview IT/PM candidates and manage staff levels in your region
  • Build and develop a strong team of IT professionals to help support live Esport events
  • Maintain all IT assets within a region including break/fix, RMA, and scheduled maintenance
  • Build relations with regional Corp IT teams and determine strategies to incorporate support from the regional Blizzard Corporate team.
  • Identify, execute, and enforce standardization, optimization, and best practices for IT Operations and event support that aligns with the Global IT standards.
  • Align the global Overwatch League IT plan with regions and other stakeholders; actively establish buy-in and support from regions and roll-out strategy
  • Work with internal cross-functional teams (e.g. legal, accounting, etc.) to establish shared service agreements
  • Support establishment of the process, procedure, work products, and software platforms to support Overwatch League objectives
  • Own all vendor relationship in the regions; this includes contract, issues, and enforcing contractual obligations. The role will also need to own the contractor budget and expenses for their region.
  • Manage relationships with key parties & partnerships (HP, sponsorship vendors, logistic vendor, team owners)
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish and execute a consistent process and key metrics for the regions
  • Oversee Overwatch League logistics, contractors and other service providers and ensure compliance with project agreements, compliance standards, and industry best practices
  • Track operational and financial metrics for projects and drive improvements
  • Review and analyze performance and suggest improvement plans to Senior Leadership
  • Ensure resources are assigned to each live event and help handle any logistical or HR needs for regional staff
  • Manage any changes for staffing schedule and resource time management
  • Other duties as assigned

    • Familiarity with project agreements and terms, with the ability to identify and manage material terms
  • Decision-Making skills:
    • The buck stops with you. Whether it is dealing with employees, management or vendors, regional manager must make decisions that could affect the company Having the ability to make hard and fast decisions is crucial to the success
    • Highly resourceful and comfortable working in an unstructured environment
    • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure
  • Speaking and Writing:
    • Regional managers are expected to do much communicating. This might be in front of a group of employees, or a meeting with management. Regional managers might be called upon to write reports, recommendations, or reprimands. Excellent verbal communications and writing skills help in any of these scenarios
    • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills relating to significant contact and communication with internal & external customers

Experience & Education

  • 5 years+ experience in asset management, business management, contract management, or operations roles, in Information Technology or live events management
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Office 365, MS Excel & MS PowerPoint
  • Bachelor's degree, and/or applicable work experience
  • Experience in designing and implementing ITIL processes, Agile, SCRUM, work structure management process
