Director of Esports

Ottawa University, Kansas (NAIA) seeks a Director of Esports for an immediate opening. The position will be responsible for leading and building all aspects our varsity collegiate esports program which competes in a state-of-the-art esports arena located in the center of campus. The director of the program will be expected to build and grow the program while recruiting student-athletes who will become graduates of OU and who will be successful academically, competitively and socially on campus. We are actively seeking candidates with excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task and manage the day-to-day operations of a highly competitive and fast growing collegiate esports program. With several esports titles already established, the new director is expected to continue to expand programming and depth of the program and each team. Managing a staff of graduate assistants, student assistants, as well as remote specialists will be critical to the role of the director and to the expectations for the overall success and growth of the program.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree preferred. Substantial competitive esports experience involving multiplayer online video games with team-based elements and expert knowledge of Call of Duty, Overwatch, Rocket League, League of Legends or similar esports title is required. Experience coaching and/or playing in a collegiate esports program is highly preferred. A high level of knowledge and understanding regarding the production and broadcasting side of collegiate esports is critical to this position given the arena, vision and visibility of the program. Successful candidates must demonstrate the skills and aptitude for successfully recruiting and building a program, as well as possess basic knowledge of additional collegiate esports titles. Champions of Character values must be instilled and enforced within the competitive esports environment with high expectations placed on positive mentorship of our student-athletes. A high level of accountability is expected of all members of the program including first class interactions within all communication platforms and in the esports community. The position will focus on the continued growth and establishment of a positive team culture, making it a key priority.
