We’re looking for an experienced UX Product Design Director to lead our multidisciplinary team of designers building engaging educational experiences for children. The ideal candidate has experience building and managing a team of world class designers and designing inspiring fun, exciting and engaging products.

Responsibilities

  • Manage. Lead, mentor and grow a diverse team of designers of multiple levels and specialties
  • Organize. Understand your team strengths, and distribute tasks accordingly. Define key objectives, provide feedback, optimize processes and review performances in order to get the best work from everyone
  • Communicate. Define the vision, formulate plans, and communicate them with the team in an ongoing and transparent manner
  • Champion. Make sure everyone’s voice is heard, push-back and set boundaries when needed, in order to maintain a fun, healthy work-life balance for everyone
  • Collaborate. Work with leaders of product, engineering, and marketing to properly balance and evolve our product development
  • Scale. Define and evolve design systems across multiple product lines and brands
  • Inspire. Maintain a high-quality bar for design, including beautiful, fun, and engaging user experiences, and intuitive user-interfaces that can be used by children as young as 4 years old

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in leadership roles and design team management
  • Experience in hiring, onboarding, and leading a talented team of designers
  • Deep understanding of the user-centered product design process, from early brainstorming to shipping and maintaining the products
  • Experience with ownership of end-to-end product design for multiple successful products at scale
  • Understanding of how product design interacts with engineering, marketing, PR and sales, in order to ship and launch customer-facing products
  • Enthusiastic giver and receiver of feedback; comfortable managing conflict
  • Strong organization skills
  • Curious, optimistic and a skilled problem-solver
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to set up frameworks and brainstorm initial concepts, create pitch and sell concepts
  • Awareness of the new and current design trends and patterns, and a desire to push those boundaries forward

  • A passion for product development for children, students, learning products, video games, and innovative technologies such as AI and AR
  • Broad understanding of AI and Computer Vision
  • Experience working on phigital products - at the intersection of physical and digital
  • Experience working on mixed-reality or augmented-reality products
