At Facebook Reality Labs, we are developing the future of Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR). We are currently seeking a Systems Integration Engineer with a desire for working inter-disciplinary to develop technology and solve complex problems. The Systems Integration Engineer will work with groups that are doing research and development for sensors and display architectures, acting as the technical owner or contributor for one or more system platforms, aimed at driving state of the art technology though development to shipping consumer VR/AR systems.

Systems Integration Engineer Responsibilities

  • Drive system requirements for prototype systems. Be able to work across Hardware and Software teams and flow down system requirements to sub-system levels or something digestible by SW groups. Translate requirements into tasks if necessary.
  • Resolve requirements discrepancies at different levels.
  • Ensure the proper integration of all subsystems and calibration teams, and verify and validate work received or identify gaps.
  • Drive troubleshooting process to fix issues across different systems.
  • Cross-functional engagement with internal and external partners to develop concepts and prototypes into realizable product hardware designs. Ability to assess needs across the organization and collaborate/influence to get to work done.
  • Ability to work independently and have sound technical judgment to work without much technical direction from manager.
  • Ability to see the big picture, connect the dots, as well as work at a more granular level if necessary.
  • This position will work with early technology paths, collaborate to manage system maturation, requirements, and respective risks and focused on execution while providing clear and effective communication to remove barriers across the team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Optics or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Systems Engineering role or equivalent.
  • Combination of education and experience in the research, development, and integration of systems or components including, but not limited to, imaging and display systems.
  • Experience in developing systems with multi-function/multi-disciplinary threads, as well as experience working across multiple levels of Software integration.
  • Experience in one or more system optimization and analysis tools, such as MATLAB, C++, or Java.
  • Track record of increasing responsibilities and decision-making experience.
  • Experience working across complex cross functional interfaces.
  • Experience communicating with various teams to gain credibility and accomplish work through influence and building successful relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree with significant industry experience in the field of Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Sciences or related degree.
  • 5+ years of experience early prototype development.
