Facebook Reality Labs organization designs, develops, and builds products for the AR, VR, and Portal communication solutions. The Strategic Sourcing team is responsible for negotiating commercial terms that balance cost, schedule and risk for advanced technologies that comprise these Facebook’s consumer-facing end products. The team owns the commercial growth strategy and business relationships with all suppliers and manufacturers. The sourcing team moves fast and leverages key partnerships to drive technical innovation, high quality standards and cost-savings via a customized supply chain. Facebook is seeking an experienced silicon Sensors & IP Sourcing Manager that creates disruptive value by influencing the product definitions, designs, and specifications for our organization, for the development and manufacturing of our Facebook Reality Labs hardware and software. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing across our ecosystem, including the commercial, operational and technical performance of our technology and supplier base. You will be responsible for developing IP sourcing strategies, pipelines and cost/risk models that span across technologies for Facebook Reality Labs.

Sensors & IP Sourcing Manager Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, UX and other XFN partners to identify and secure sensor partnerships and licenses to third party IP or to develop technologies that deliver product experiences in line with world class commercial terms and conditions
  • Develop the overall vision, strategy and execution plan for assigned sensors and IP licensing across all technology areas, driving an integrated long-term partner development process focused on delivering world class quality, service, delivery and cost
  • Negotiate and execute master license, professional services, and development agreements
  • Establish, manage and own strategic supplier relationships at the supplier executive level
  • Subject matter expert in Sensors and IP + SW cost profiles and should-be cost models
  • Develop, manage and refresh individual and customized assigned Sensors and IP strategies, roadmaps and sourcing pipelines for each actively managed area
  • Lead Supplier QTR and QBR processes focused on exceeding Facebook KPI’s and continuous performance improvement
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, UX and other XFN partners to influence supplier technology roadmaps to create internal disruptive value-add to Facebook’s system architecture and commercial targets
  • Continually benchmark the industry to monitor technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into Facebook Reality Labs product portfolio
  • Drive Early Supplier Involvement initiatives to ensure our suppliers are proactively providing input into new product designs and future product roadmaps
  • Establish supplier selection criteria, evaluate alternative suppliers, manage RFI/Q processes, and drive final supplier selection in partnership with Software and Hardware Engineering and Supply
  • Base Engineering
  • Formulate contingency plans to de-risk technical challenges,and other partnerships related risks
  • Work with internal partners to avoid any potential technical issues and quality problems which may affect production schedules

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5 years in an engineering role
  • 5 years in supply chain management
  • Program management and cross-functional teamwork experience
  • Experience with communicating and to influence all levels of management
  • Experience operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’'s degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years in an engineering role developing sensors
  • 5+ licensing complex IP engagements
  • Experience in supplier evaluation/selection, should be cost models, contract negotiation and supply base management
