The APAC Hardware team is building products that make it easier for people to connect with the ones they love most. We are a team of world-class experts developing and shipping products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content.We are seeking a Product Design Engineer who has experience working on mechanical engineering teams for consumer electronics and mobile products. We are looking for a slightly impatient individual willing to face down their fear of failure to accomplish bold things. This engineer will need to travel to Shenzhen or Shanghai area frequently.

This is a full-time position based in Shanghai or Shenzhen.

Responsibilities

End-to-end ownership of product architecture from concept to launch.
Establish product design process, best practices and tools for the organization.
Drive road map for materials, manufacturing processes.
Collaborate closely with the industrial design and the supply chain NPI teams.
Leverage external partners (ODM/JDM/CMs) to maximize the focus of our internal resources on adding value and differentiation to our product.
Engage with suppliers to design parts for manufacturing.
Travel to and support engineering builds and vendor visits

Minimum Qualification

Experience in companies across industries.
Experience in architecting and designing consumer electronics and mobile products.
Knowledge of state-of-the art mechanical design and simulation tools, prototyping tools, manufacturing technologies and materials.
Experience with audio and video products.
Experience working with ODM and CM, as well as JDM development, leading their technical teams.
Experience providing technical contributions to innovation-driven entrepreneurial product design teams.
Experience working with UX, ID, technical operations, reliability, and other cross-functional teams.
Ability to read and create 2D drawings that implement GD&T. Experience of using NX.
Understanding of the structure of a hardware product organization and the key roles and responsibilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with native fluency in English and Mandarin.

Preferred Qualification

Willingness to travel upwards of 50% to support builds, meet with suppliers, and work with design teams in the US and Asia.
