Oculus enables people to defy distance—connecting with each other and the world—through world-class VR hardware and software. The VR Platform team is part of the AR/VR organization at Facebook, responsible for developing hardware products and the software platforms that run on them — and defining the roadmap for the organization.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to help build our Content Discovery and Distribution team to match the industry-leading growth of our VR platforms. The focus of this team is matching users with the best immersive experiences, and giving them reasons to come back to the headset time after time. Products this team is responsible for include the Oculus Store, developer analytics, our Feed product, our mobile and desktop apps, and also our notification, ranking and search systems.

As an Engineering Manager at Oculus you will lead, manage, and inspire engineering teams developing a next-generation platform for virtual reality. You’ll help the team fulfill technical, operational, and business requirements by putting yourself in the trenches. You’ll guide architecture and delivery of software products. The ideal candidate will have experience delivering consumer software products focused on incredible customer experiences.

  • Help build and lead great software teams to deliver world-class products.
  • Drive customer experience, continually raising the bar on functionality, usability, and simplicity.
  • Support and grow engineering managers and seasoned talent.
  • Champion engineering and operations, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement.
  • Establish a solid project framework and development processes.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to both your team members and your project peers.
  • Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams.
  • 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
  • Proven track record of building and supporting cross-functional teams.
  • Experience hiring and mentoring leaders across multiple disciplines and domains.
  • Experience supporting, coaching, mentoring, and developing leaders.
  • Experience initiating and driving projects to completion with minimal guidance.
  • Experience analyzing, interpreting, and leveraging data to make engineering and product decisions.
  • Experience communicating insights and ideas across organization.
  • Experience architecting, developing, and launching software products and/or services.
  • Experience with C/C++/Java or comparable language (i.e., JavaScript).
  • Experience working on gaming, app or media platforms (less so producing content).
  • Experience in social media platforms involving ranking or machine learning.
  • Experience working on eCommerce of digital goods.
