Job Title: Merchandise Planning Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Merchandise Planning Manager is responsible for supporting all aspects of the global direct to consumer business. The position will interface regularly with the Ecommerce and operations teams to manage the daily business needs, address challenges and identify new opportunities. The Merchandise Planning Manager will develop quarterly forecasts, Retail Open to Buy and Assortment plans on a monthly cadence. The position is responsible for the planning and forecasting of sales, margin, inventory, and receipts to coincide with the financial objectives of the company. The position is responsible for aiding in the achievement of financial goals and achievement of annual sales growth by product category.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all aspects of planning activities from merchandise planning, demand planning, and open to buy management
  • Oversees the regional creation and management of the open to buy budget and provides potential variance to forecast, risk and opportunities during the buying cycle to reduce inventory excess risk while optimizing for improved sell through
  • Reviews and approves the final buy quantities
  • Manages inventory productivity and profitability across all regions
  • Partner with Ecommerce and Product teams in developing seasonal plans and strategies that meet or exceed targets (sales, gross margin and inventory turn goals)
  • Establish appropriate processes and tools to review product assortments; providing data and analysis to support decision making
  • Monitor performance of sales and inventory plans in an Open-To-Buy weekly/monthly, and be able to recognize opportunities & risks within a plan
  • Assist in running of weekly reports, analyze and communicate key selling and financial information to Ecommerce team and management
  • Monitor and track receipt flow and partner as necessary with operations to ensure delivery dates are met
  • Coordinate global inventory sharing to optimize flow of inventory
  • Provide expert analysis on trends and recommendations to influence cancellations, future purchases, and assortment strategies
  • Propose and test multiple business strategies simultaneously, quantifying and communicating business impacts and be able to report results clearly and concisely to the owner

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years retail planning experience
  • Strong understanding of retail math and Open to Buy
  • Advanced business knowledge of forecasting concepts with an understanding of their operational and financial impacts
  • Well versed in Microsoft Excel (can perform complex functions) and open to new systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to take ownership of diverse projects and handle them with little supervision
  • Ability to understand the financial implications of decisions
  • Resourceful, creative with solid follow-through
  • Excellent written and verbal communications
  • Be able to demonstrate & implement process improvement and maintain measurable metrics
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in the US and overseas
