As the Community Specialist at ESXL, the organization behind New York Excelsior (NYXL), you’ll canvas New York City and develop a relationship with every gaming community, tournament organizer, gaming influencer, cosplayer, streamer and YouTuber in the city. You will be the local face of our community brand and will lay the groundwork for the community programs that will drive our business for years to come. You will build and track community gaming contacts in New York. Identify gaming influencers and tastemakers in the city. Work with them to create community forward event and social impact programs. Be on the leading edge of what’s happening in community gaming in New York and help the team steer strategic decision making by reporting on growing communities and new trends in the local market.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare presentation materials that effectively communicate trends in New York Gaming communities
  • Develop community contact list for local organizer, influencers, streamers, YouTubers and gaming taste makers in the city
  • Develop event formats relevant and growing gaming communities and present them to the HQ team
  • Manage community swag programs, tracking inventory, ordering merchandise, and working with influencers to put our gear in the hands of influential people in New York
  • Work with local colleges and high schools to develop gaming programs for local communities
  • Work with local communities to grow fan base of NYXL and other assets
  • Work with events team to develop gaming programming for New York that will resonate with New York gamers at every level.
  • Drive New York fan bases into our events and to consume our content

What You've Got

  • Bachelor’s degree or relative experience in events, gaming, or sport marketing
  • 1-3 years experience in gaming or community development programs
  • Fluency for gaming and passion for competitive gaming
  • Understanding of the esports industry and consumer base
  • 1+ year experience working with online communities
  • Familiarity with current trends in gaming and technology
  • Basic knowledge of the gaming industry and development process
  • Experience and proficiency with the MS Office suite
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (domestic/international)
