NUEL is the largest university esports community and tournament organiser in the UK and Ireland, with over 10,000 students from 100 universities taking part in tournaments and social gaming events throughout the year.

Every season we run live broadcasts of our tournaments, aimed at both showcasing university esports to a wider audience as well as giving upcoming broadcast talent the opportunity to grow and develop on the job.

We are currently looking for observers for the following upcoming tournaments:

  • League of Legends
  • Women and Non-Binary League of Legends
  • CS:GO
  • VALORANT
  • Women and Non-Binary VALORANT
  • Rainbow Six Siege
  • Rocket League
  • Overwatch
  • Clash Royale

Our Winter broadcasts will start on 8th November, and run for 5 weeks. The weekly schedule is as follows:

  • Monday - W+NB League of Legends and Overwatch (Overwatch 6th December only)
  • Tuesday - CS:GO and W+NB VALORANT
  • Wednesday - League of Legends and R6 Siege
  • Thursday - VALORANT
  • Friday - Rocket League
  • Sunday - Clash Royale (5th December only)

You will work with the Marketing and Product teams and report to the Broadcast Manager plus the relevant product manager for that game. Our main method of communication is Discord and you will be expected to stay in regular contact.

Our ideal candidate would be passionate about creating a high quality viewing experience for our community and have a deep understanding of streaming to Twitch via OBS Studio. You’ll need to be a great team player and an excellent communicator to work alongside casters, the product manager and admins to produce a top-quality show. Prior experience is not necessary - but having buckets of enthusiasm is!

This is an entry/junior-level, contractor position. All of our broadcasts are done remotely. You will be compensated a set amount per broadcast.

Responsibilities

  • Produce a stream at 1080p60
    • Mix various visual/audio feeds - RTMP from the observer, caster cameras via OBS.ninja, caster audio, music, VTs (videos)
  • For League of Legends, also in-game observing
  • Sound-check casters 45 minutes before going live
  • Contribute notes, research, and feedback regularly
  • Commit to completing all broadcasts you’re scheduled for
  • Work with casters, observers, product manager and admins to get matches started on time

Requirements

  • PC and internet capable of streaming at 1080p60 at 6000kbps
  • For League of Legends: experience observing or playing League of Legends or another MOBA
  • In-depth knowledge of OBS Studio
    • All of our stream packages and tools are built to be used with OBS Studio, in the interest of accessibility and providing entry-level opportunities
    • If you strongly prefer to use a different streaming software, you will be expected to recreate all of the stream packages and tools to work in that other software
  • Good understanding of the game you’re applying for
  • Technical/computer skills - you need to be able to fix issues on the fly!
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Work well in a team
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure
