NUEL is the largest university esports community and tournament organiser in the UK and Ireland, with over 10,000 students from 100 universities taking part in tournaments and social gaming events throughout the year.

Every season we run live broadcasts of our tournaments, aimed at both showcasing university esports to a wider audience as well as giving upcoming broadcast talent the opportunity to grow and develop on the job.

We are currently looking for match referees for our Rocket League tournament. Broadcasts for this tournament will take place on Mondays, starting 14th March, and will run for 3 weeks.

You will work with the Marketing and Product teams and report to the Broadcast Manager and the Rocket League Product Manager. Our main method of communication is Discord and you will be expected to stay in regular contact.

Our ideal candidate would be passionate about creating a high quality viewing experience for our community and helping to facilitate smooth running matches for the players. You’ll need to be a great team player and an excellent communicator to work alongside casters, the producer, the product manager and admins. Prior experience is not necessary - but having buckets of enthusiasm is!

This is an entry/junior-level, contractor position. All of our broadcasts are done remotely. You will be compensated a set amount per broadcast.

Responsibilities

  • Responding to player issues during the duration of a match, to ensure rules are followed and the broadcast can continue smoothly
  • Attend soundcheck 45 minutes before you go live
  • Collecting information from teams on broadcast, such as starting rosters and player pronouns for casters.
  • Work with product manager and admins to host and run lobby with teams
  • Keep the game and broadcast in sync by communicating with players and crew

Requirements

  • Experience observing (at any level)
  • In-depth knowledge of Rocket League
  • Technical/computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Work well in a team
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure
