DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

LOCALIZATION:

  • Partner with global localization teams to establish workflow, project milestones, and localization tasks.

  • Manage projects as assigned; monitor progress, maintain project information, and overall schedule.

  • Disseminate project information with NCL, NOE and NOA internal groups to ensure that milestones and deadlines are met.

  • Identifies gaps and opportunities and makes recommendations to management to effectively resolve and improve localization processes.

  • Communicates with overseas and domestic first-, second-, and third-party developers regarding software and service localization through launch and beyond.

  • Balances input and feedback from internal stakeholders and external partners to foster alignment, enhance executions, and protect long-term partnership and project health.

  • Maintains and enhances working relationships with Nintendo Company Limited (NCL) and development partners.

  • Acts as liaison for NCL and development partners, including translating communication on behalf of NOA.

  • Works closely with translation and development teams to ensure in-game content is appropriate for the target audience and recommends changes for improved playability and comprehension as needed.

  • Assists in reviewing products for ESRB compliance

  • Gives input into content and game evaluation for pre-released titles and helps coordinate internal and external monitor tests depending on development needs

  • May make recommendations on what games are brought to market.

  • Translates, creates, and centralizes materials including spec docs, glossaries, and other development-related information.

  • Translates in-game text and game-related content as needed.

  • Interprets meetings, telephone calls, and video conferences related to game development and localization.

  • Develops post-mortem reports and archives materials upon project completion.

  • Up to 10% travel, including international travel.

MARKETING:

  • Communicates product strengths, features, and differentiation points to upper management and various departments, including Design, Marketing and Product Marketing.

  • Provides input into the development of marketing materials; acts as a liaison to coordinate resources as necessary.

  • May act as spokesperson for Nintendo by demonstrating games to media, participate in interviews, presenting on live stream and supporting other promotional efforts

SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS:

  • Four years of localization or project management experience

  • Two to four years specific translation experience

  • Excellent Japanese and English interpretation skills, including experience interpreting business meetings and/or conference calls

  • Excellent knowledge of Japanese and American culture

  • Familiarity with Japanese business protocol

  • Awareness and understanding of Japanese and US localization issues and market preference

  • Experience operating Microsoft Windows and Office software in English and Japanese

  • Project Management experience (Waterfall and/or Agile) highly preferred.

  • Software-development experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Japanese, East Asian Studies or a related field or equivalent education and experience required

  • Level I certification on the Japanese Proficiency Test or equivalent

  • Valid passport required.
