Technical Animator / Rigging Artist

Nimble Giant Entertainment is looking for a full-time Technical Animator.

Our animation department is looking for a resourceful Technical Animator to join our Art Development Team. Our ideal candidate combines a strong technical background in animation or engineering with deep knowledge of the 3D art development pipeline.

As a Technical Animator you will be supporting the Animation Lead, innovating on our animation systems and producing high-end animation rigs for the animation team. Throughout production, you will work closely with the development team to implement game assets, collaborate with art leads to ensure content and features are integrated seamlessly into the game, and be a mediator between the artistic vision and technical constraints of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the animation team to define, create and maintain the animation pipeline.
  • Work with modelers, animators and programmers to set up 3D art and bring it into the engine.
  • Develop 3D art pipeline tools and extensions with an eye towards usability and efficiency.
  • Support artists and engineers in the use of the 3D art pipeline and user-facing engine tools.
  • Review creative processes and identify opportunities for tool improvements.

Requirements

  • Expert in 3D art tools, Rigging/Skinning and Blend Shape implementation.
  • Knowledge of the full 3D art pipeline (High and Low-poly modelling, Skinning, Rigging, Exporting, etc.)
  • Experience working with live physics rigs and physics systems for rigid/soft bodies, hair and cloth.
  • Experience developing custom tools for 3D art pipelines (Maya/Max preferable)
  • Experience with Unreal animation pipeline.
  • Working knowledge of at least one general-purpose coding language. (C#, C++, etc.)
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English, written and spoken.

Desirable Perks

  • Experience with Unity animation pipeline.
