Pokémon GO is looking for a skilled build engineer. The build engineer supports teams across Pokémon GO through build systems, release management, and other areas of software configuration management.

Pokémon GO is a 1st party development studio within Niantic. This role will help define the strategy and architecture integration with respect to the Niantic Lightship platform. Specifically, they will help determine how engineering uses and intersects with supporting, shared service technology teams including AR, Social, Geo, Identity, Security, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Help define and implement the build and deployment pipeline for Pokémon GO.
  • Work closely with engineers and quality assurance to ensure our build system is optimized.
  • Help level up the Niantic engineering organization through guiding best practices, documentation, and build improvements.
  • Represent the Pokémon GO team to vendors and development partners, as well as to internal teams.
  • Operate directly with studio engineers managers and partnering platform teams.
  • Work with a team of engineers, quality assurance, and producers to optimize / improve our build process and systems.
  • Monitor and report on the build system for failures and errors.
  • Continually maintain and improve automation scripts and tools for the project and support users of the build systems.
  • Document and update build creation, management and deployment processes.
  • Provide support for the production tools and automation pipeline.
  • Develop, adapt, and implement long-term technical strategy to achieve key business objectives.
  • Drives a culture of experimentation and improvement when it comes to tools, technology, and process in engineering.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members across a variety of fields and teams within the company.
  • Adapts to changing priorities with ease.
  • A passion for building tools, process optimization and automation to support other engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or other technical major, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in C# or one of the following scripting languages such as groovy, python, or bash.
  • Proficient in Git or version control systems.
  • Experience working with at least one build system such as Jenkins, Teamcity.
  • Experience with a bool tool such as Gradle, SBT, or Maven.

Plus If...

  • Previous experience in the gaming industry - mobile and/or games-as-a-service.
  • Experience with Unity.
  • Experience with automated deployments, CI/CD processes, and Terraform.
