Network N is looking for a Staff Writer for a new gaming website. This is the company’s first site launch since PCGamesN started back in 2012, and we’re putting together a brilliant team to get it off the ground.

As Staff Writer your primary job will be content creation. You’ll be turning out excellent, accurate copy to tight deadlines, with a focus on original reporting and covering news as it breaks. You’ll work with the site’s Editor to plan and deliver on a content strategy that will grow and retain an audience, and establish the website as a destination for gamers.

This new brand is focused on the stories that surround games and the people who play them. Think streamers, esports, celebrity gaming culture and the like. You’ll need to be knowledgeable and interested in these things, as well as being an avid gamer, and be eager to learn best practises for online publishing in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll need to be able to write a range of different types of content, feel comfortable conducting interviews and reaching out for comment, and have a knack for uncovering your own stories.

Responsibilities include:

  • Content creation: writing news stories, features, opinion pieces, etc.
  • Original reporting: sourcing and developing news stories
  • Attending events and conducting interviews
  • Building and maintaining relationships with the communities you’re covering, and the wider gaming industry
  • Learning and working within guidelines for style, tone, and SEO

Required skills and experience:

  • The ability to write brilliantly and quickly
  • A keen interest in videogames and a good knowledge of gaming culture, with specific reference to streaming, esports, and related communities
  • Experience writing and pitching articles
  • Proficiency with basic working tools: docs, sheets, task management, etc.
  • Proactivity, attention to detail, and excellent organisation
  • Previous CMS experience

This is an entry-level position, but you’ll need to be able to show us that you’re engaged in the subject matter and have genuine journalistic ambitions. If you don’t have any other published work anywhere – even if it’s just your own blog – then this role isn’t for you.

If you think you’d be a great fit, please email the address below by hitting the apply button. Attach your CV, but be sure to use your covering email to explain why you’re well-suited to this role and what you’d bring to it.

Please also note that this role is based in our offices in Bath. If you ask about remote working, your email will take a swift trip to the bin.
