We are looking for a Narrative Designer to join our passionate team working on the remake of the beloved sci-fi horror cult classic, Dead Space. You will report to the Narrative Development Director and will work with our Design team in close collaboration with our realization director, writers and level designers to ensure our game's scripted events are presented in compelling, immersive ways.
Responsibilities:
- You will create compelling action and emotionally motivated moments between characters.
- You will script engaging interactive in-game conversations and cinematic moments.
- You will uphold established cinematic standards across the game and broader IP to maintain a design language.
- You will manage the scope and budget of assigned tasks to meet project deadlines without jeopardizing the player's experience.
- You will collaborate in cross discipline efforts on scripted realization
- You will participate in reviews, stand-ups, playtests, and work across departments
- You will drive the design of new narrative features and workflows, in collaboration with other disciplines.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional game design experience.
- One or more shipped titles in a Cinematic, Animation, or Narrative Design capacity.
- Familiarity with one or more game engine cinematic tools (Maya Motion Builder)
- Experience with cinematic language, frame composition, pacing, tone, and narrative structure
- Good understanding of narrative dependencies with other crafts such as VFX, Lighting, Audio, Level Design and Level art
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Understanding the effectiveness and strengths of different types of narrative systems within the game.
- Passion for Dead Space and story-driven games
Additional requirements (nice to have)
- Knowledge of the Frostbite engine
