Work Experience

  • 10+ years in the video game industry.
  • Minimum of 1 published games as an Art Director with, ideally with one shipped title on current gen.
    Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification
  • Experience with creative visualization tools (Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro and/or equivalent editing tool).
  • Experience with one or more types of 3D software (Maya, 3DS Max, etc.).

Knowledge/Skills

  • Outstanding foundation artistic skills across all relevant art game development components that define the visual experience of a AAA product including: VFX, Lighting, Concept Art, Animation, Character Art, World Art, and Presentations/Cinematics
  • Deep understanding of the history of costume design with the skills to effectively apply that knowledge in the creation of high quality characters.
  • Expertise in the architectural movements throughout history with an ability to communicate key principles in architectural style and build practices.
  • Proficiency and understanding of the history of geological forms, biome diversity, and flora anatomy.
    Strong foundation human and creature anatomy expertise.
  • Well versed in world building and storytelling fundamentals with an aptitude to define high level visual principles that effectively align with product design and narrative goals.
  • Thorough understanding of animation theory and technique.
  • Excellent written, verbal, visual and demonstration communication skills that effectively allows the team to understand key product goals and principles.
  • Robust modern and classical cinematic fundamentals with an application towards establishing mood, tone, and emotion.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across all team disciplines to find consensus and execute on agreed action items.
  • Excellent capacity for giving and receiving instructions in addition to giving and receiving constructive, professional critique and direction.
  • Proactive and professional collaboration and communication with other department and related creative or technical areas is essential.
  • Must have an active, passionate interest in current video games to help drive the game to the next level.
