As a Game Design Manager at Mojang Studios, you will be the people manager of amazing game designers distributed in several of our teams in Stockholm. Our teams keep expanding to help realize the dream of a better Minecraft experience, a game enjoyed by over 100,000,000 players worldwide. We have big dreams for the future of Minecraft and our studio, and need your help making them happen!

As the Game Design Manager, you will be having a primary concern and responsibility for the individuals and the team dynamics across our teams. You will also be in a unique position of evangelizing great game design when providing support and tools for our projects and game design duties. In close collaboration with the Producers, Game Directors and Game Design leads, you will make sure we have the right people at the right place to ensure each individual can contribute their very best. You will build and manage the team consisting of Game Designers throughout recruitment, development, engagement and career management, while advocating and living our values.

As one of our first Game Design Managers, we will learn from your experience in how this role contributes to leveling up our organisation in the best possible way.

Some of your tasks will be

  • Formal people management, for example performance and development, engagement, motivation, clarity and career direction, providing tools and resources, recruiting, coaching and feedback, as well as work environment and employee health.
  • Advocate and advance modern, agile practices in production and development and help evangelize great game design and organizational practices.
  • Grow a healthy, collaborative, passionate, fun and creative culture.

Requirements

  • You love managing and developing people and have a track record doing it
  • You are knowledgeable and passionate about Game Design.
  • You have experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders and helping them understand the trade-offs to different products and decisions related to game design.
  • You have experience helping game designers delivering timely, high-quality products together with them.
  • You have solid experience working in an agile development environment.
  • A background working in game design would be nice to have.
