Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) one of the world's premier sports and entertainment companies, owns the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL), Toronto Raptors (NBA), Toronto FC (MLS), Toronto Argonauts (CFL), Toronto Marlies (AHL), Raptors 905 (NBA D-League), TFC II (USL) and Raptors Uprising Gaming Club, the Toronto Raptors Esports franchise in the NBA 2K League. Job Description

Reporting to the SVP People & Inclusion, you will join our team during an exciting time of transformation. As a key leader with reach across the entire organization and externally, you will collaborate with senior leadership and partners, leading a team of professionals with the goal of creating an inclusive environment from which to unlock MLSE’s collective capabilities.

In this role you will:

  • Oversees talent management and learning & development practices that will enable MLSE to attract, retain, deploy and develop diverse talent
  • Designs and leads the end to end implementation of annual Talent Review process including strategic planning and communication of the process and timelines
  • Ensures talent assessments produce the right business outcomes and follow through with leadership development plans.
  • Continuously monitors talent metrics; and develops insights from these metrics to enhance the business’ talent plans, proactively identifying any retention risks
  • Develops industry network and stays abreast of emerging talent management and L&D trends, hot skills and retention risks
  • Lead, coach and mentor a team responsible for developing, producing, and design training tools and platforms including videos, modules, curated content, etc. supporting MLSE learning & development strategy
  • Lead the redesign core MLSE U (MLSE’s Internal Learning Department) programming to demonstrate and highlight MLSE Required Leadership Competencies and create curriculum that models the Future of Work pillars
  • Lead the development and implementation of clearly defined and leveled talent competency model and performance management process throughout the organization
  • Lead the design and implement reward and recognition program in support of the L&D accomplishments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; 10 years of experience in Human Resources, Human Capital Consulting with solid knowledge and working experience with equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives, change management, strategy development and leadership programs.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in leading, influencing and executing on significant multi-year strategic organizational talent and L&D change initiatives.
  • Passionate, dynamic and strategic leader, with a proven track record of harmonizing strategy, programs and experiences, and ability to influence at all levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of leading practices, policies, processes and evaluation tools in talent management and L&D.
  • Expertise in building sustainable business relationships with all levels of leaders and stakeholders through trust, respect, competence and confidence.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of effective strategies to maximize inter-professional collaboration will also prove pivotal to success in the role
  • Strategic and innovative, with the ability to develop tactical plans that deliver results.
  • Demonstrable experience in the development and implementation of a cross-functional, multi-stakeholder impactful strategy.
  • Experience growing grassroots initiatives with the ability to think strategically and translate business and individual needs into actionable items.
  • Flexible self-starter who uses profile, relationships and institutional knowledge to engage the right people to affect the right outcomes.
  • Ability to bring challenging topics to the table in a constructive way and engage stakeholders in coming up with viable impactful solutions.
  • Authentic passion for lifelong learning, who stays current with leading and innovative talent and L&D research and topics.
