Mighty Kingdom, Australia's largest independent game development studio are looking for a talented full-time Systems Designer to work on mobile and console games in Adelaide, South Australia!

As a Systems Designer at Mighty Kingdom, you will be responsible for designing and effectively communicating your design ideas across multi-disciplined teams, ensuring they are implemented in alignment with the product vision. 

Whilst the studio is based in Adelaide, this position may be offered as remote for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing the details of key game systems, including player progression, item attributes, player matchmaking, AI behaviours, upgrade paths and economies to name a few.
  • Creating clear and detailed design documentation for the technical team.
  • Working closely with designers, programmers, product managers and producers to ensure that game systems are implemented in a functional way from the beginning of projects, though to live-ops.
  • Testing and balancing systems and providing feedback to improve gameplay, processes and techniques on our products.
  • Collaborating with multi-disciplined teams including product, UI/UX design, audio, artists, and programmers to define, design and implement unique, fun and innovative gameplay.
  • Building wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and prototypes to aid in efficiently communicating game design decisions to teammates and stakeholders outside of the project.
  • Working with other designers and disciplines to help shape overall game visions.
  • Articulating reasoning behind a system’s design and how it is relevant to the ecosystem of a game and the player’s expectations.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • 4+ years experience within the games industry in a design or related role.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Great knowledge of Free to Play games, particularly within the casual market, and understanding of player desires.
  • Strong interpersonal and outstanding communication and collaboration skills; great at working in a team and independently.
  • Strong interest and belief in data-driven approach to support & validate intuition.
  • A strong passion for creating and playing video games.
  • A strong desire to be at the leading edge of systems design in multiple genres through research and competitive analysis.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for solving problems.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Highly Regarded:

  • Completed a game, marketing, or other relevant degree.
  • One or more shipped titles as a designer.
  • Experience in other disciplines of game development.
  • Proficiency within industry standard game engines and version control such as git/subversion.
  • Experience with mentoring junior team members.
