The Microsoft Casual Games Studio is focused on delivering the best casual games for Windows 10/11, Mobile Platforms and beyond.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Casual Game Designer who has the passion to join us as we develop, release and support our Microsoft Casual Games on the Windows, iOS, and Android and Web platforms.

This position focuses on creating a vision, solving creative problems, helping establish and emphasize core design pillars, reviewing game builds and working with partners to improve them, creating, and maintaining design documentation, and creating content that will go directly to players. As a Senior Designer, you will be expected to develop and evolve Art Direction, Game Design, User Flow, and UI Design on a portfolio of assigned titles.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the final product quality meets the high expectations of the Microsoft Casual Games brand and delights our customers
  • Work closely and effectively with the Executive Producer, Studio Design Director, and other key studio leads to determine project design specifications, system mechanics, and ensure successful product implementation and execution, focusing on improving key KPI's such as engagement, retention and monetization
  • Contribute innovative and creative design ideas to specific titles, across the games portfolio
  • Evaluate game builds and milestone deliverables and provide constructive feedback to the developers that clearly identify problem statements and provide solution recommendations
  • Utilize team feedback, data analysis, and user research feedback to create clear actionable items that improve products and design processes
  • Write design specs for external and internal development teams
  • Create presentations that help analyze and visualize player usage data and then suggest improvements for released products
  • Be able to effectively collaborate, communicate design goals and can operate to the highest standards within the team structure
  • Create and maintain design documentation for all titles
  • Create and maintain documentation for cross-title features

Qualifications

Qualifications and skills

  • 5+ Years’ Experience in Game Development focused on Game Design/Art Direction
  • 5+ Years’ Experience in Casual and/or Mobile Games Development
  • Experience in Mobile App Development/Production
  • Experience working both with internal and external development teams
  • Excellent understanding of the game release process
  • Experience developing, planning, and executing across multiple products, simultaneously
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Casual Games competitive landscape & market trends in both PC & Mobile
  • Strong ability to create new ideas and concepts, be extremely detail oriented, and with outstanding knowledge of the casual game space, and be extremely detail oriented
  • Excellent creative vision that can be channeled and adapted to any type of game
  • Fully own design and help guide features through to completion - seeking out, evaluating and implementing feedback from all multiple sources to constantly improve and refine products

  • Bachelor's degree (+)
  • Experience in First-Party Publishing

  • A passion for games of all types and the ability to talk about what makes individual games great or flawed, and provide insightful commentary and suggestions to improve flaws
