Hello there, welcome to Microsoft Sports & Esports! We’re part of the Web Experiences (WebXT) Content Services org and we have a very clear vision in mind: to bring Sports & Esports to all Microsoft properties, from Windows to Office, from Bing to Edge, to all 1B Microsoft users out there, across markets, languages and devices. We want to put Microsoft on the map when it comes to Sports & Esports content and intelligence. In 2020 we acquired Smash.gg, the #1 Esports tournament management company in the USA. We’ve also released the first Esports HUB at Microsoft.

We’re looking for a Principal Group Program Manager (GPM) to help us put together and execute a strategy that can turn our vision into reality. In this role, you will be leading a team of up to 20 extraordinary people responsible for all the aspects of Program Management at Microsoft Sports & Esports as well as all the business, sales, marketing and supporting staff for Smash.gg. Responsibilities

  • Set the vision and drive execution for the Sports & Esports products and related services
  • Work closely with engineers, architects, and business leaders and drive the product offerings forward
  • Leverage market and business insights to direct investments to the products and services
  • Work side-by-side with the Group Engineering Managers to identify the business growth opportunities and define the scenarios to tackle those opportunities for Sports & Esports
  • Run the business aspects of Smash.gg: work with the Senior Leadership to define the business goals and execute the strategy towards those goals. Includes creating business partnerships, business deals, sales, marketing and branding
  • Build, lead and grow a strong and diverse group of Program Managers, Business Developers and Support individuals, ranging from entry-levels to principal-levels
  • Communication (verbal, written, presentations) of the strategy and plans to upper management in WebXT as well as to other Senior Managers across the company and outside

Qualifications

Minimum qualifiations required for this role:

  • 8+ years of Technical Product or Program Management of Consumer applications
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with applied Full-Stack Development, Cloud-Development, Front-End Development, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence
  • Experience leading a team of 10+ employees
  • Agile project management and execution & goals-oriented mindset
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective collaborator
  • Proven design skills around the user experience with an eye for design aesthetics and attention to detail

Additional qualifications that are a plus, but not required:

  • Being a Sports enthusiastic/fan is a plus
  • Experience with start-ups
  • Advanced technical degree or MBA
