What We Do

The LiveOps team dives deep into data to understand our player needs, holds a relentlessly high bar for Epicʼs service quality, focuses the attention of our business and tech teams on the right priorities, and operates Epicʼs incident management process. When other mechanisms fail, LiveOps is the backstop that ensures that Epic operates in the best interest of our playersʼ experience. LiveOps plays a key role in mitigating the risks of our fast-paced online operations strategy, minimizing disruption to our customers, and maximizing the value of our product teams. We maintain a singular focus on what our players are experiencing in real time. We take lessons from previous incidents and analyses into consideration and inject them into the planning processes for future work. These insights help us inform new and better tools and processes to continue empowering rapid delivery at an increasingly large scale. LiveOps works in both reactive and proactive capacities to provide the best possible experience for our players.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will straddle the tactical and the strategic. You will fulfill an Agile-style Product Owner role for the LiveOps team; maximizing the product value they deliver, acting as a key partner to the producer, vertical owner and the game Leadership team; tactically, you will ensure excellence in the execution of LiveOps. This role will report within the production craft.

In this role, you will

  • Be accountable for developing, ordering, and communicating LiveOps team goals as the Product Owner for the LiveOps team and ensuring a balance of tactical execution alongside forward-thinking strategic initiatives are on the LiveOps roadmap

  • In this role, you will partner closely with the LiveOps Producer to devise credible plans which you and the team believe in. In this partnership, you will be expected to drive mitigations and adjustments to plan if commitments go off-track

  • As a figurehead for the LiveOps team you will be a confident presenter, rallying the team behind initiatives as well as delivering clear and regular reporting to stakeholders

  • You will devise improvements, hypotheses and A/B tests with the Product and Analytics teams to make data-informed recommendations and pair that with regular stakeholder input when planning

  • You will support the team’s practical execution of these overarching goals, employing a detailed knowledge of data, config, CMS, and OTA systems to deploy live operations, ensure live pushes are high quality, and refine the process over time; minimizing negative impacts or downtime and confidently and expediently firefighting issues which do arise, applying pragmatic solution

What we're looking for

We are looking for a Senior LiveOps Manager with experience delivering and running large, multi-platform, live products with regular content and feature deliveries. A strong understanding of data-driven development and running a large, distributed development team are important

  • Detailed knowledge and experience of production methodologies, in particular Kanban and Scrum and comfortable working with task tracking software

  • Confidently utilize KPIs in your planning, analysis and reporting and can demonstrate examples of data-driven decision-making

  • Great interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, with the proven ability to communicate plans at varying levels of detail to different audiences

  • Excellent stakeholder management, confidently balancing the needs of the business, the players and the team

  • Be proficient with tools and systems for setting up and managing LiveOps
