What You'll Do

We’re looking for an exceptionally talented Level Designer to join our Fall Guys game team – helping to produce new stages for our players to fail in spectacularly.

Ideally, you’ll have a wealth of experience in 3D level design, some shipped products and work to point to, and a passion for producing best-in-class content that our players will love.

In This Role You Will

As a Level Designer at Mediatonic you’ll be sat at the heart of the team, producing regular new stages and working closely with your leads and other disciplines to ensure they reach the game smoothly, and at the highest possible quality.

  • Brainstorming round design ideas in line with briefs provided by more senior designers.
  • Creating round diagrams to communicate design intent
  • Using Unity probuilder and project-specific tools to greybox round layouts, configuring the parameters for obstacles and game managers where relevant
  • Playtesting, tweaking, and balancing rounds according to framework provided by more senior designers.
  • Being a primary point of contact for QA, engineering and production for updates on the round you’re working on
  • Liaising closely with your Seniors and Leads to identify and prioritize remit for new content and for finessing existing content
  • Assume responsibility for ensuring all key team members (across disciplines) understand the goal and plan for a content design before its implementation
  • Seek efficiency where possible; look to save time through natural cross-over, reuse or alignment of functionality and content across the game
  • Support the wider team in looking for ways to improve or expand on the game experience through creating ideas for new mechanics or features
  • Creating clear written documentation for new obstacles and levels
  • Mentor and support junior designers, feeding back on their work regularly and helping to grow their understanding of the craft

You are one of the architects behind the game’s most critical content; creating the arenas through which all our players will stumble towards greatness.

What We're Looking For

  • Industry experience, at least 1 shipped title that features your level design work
  • Level creation experience in a 3D engine, preferably Unity or Unreal
  • The ability to work within constraints and to specific briefs
  • Good communication skills
  • A good understanding of level design fundamentals and good practice
  • The ability to work openly with their team and other disciplines

Preferred Skills

  • Some experience with 3D software (Unity Probuilder, Maya, 3DS Max)
  • Good technical and art skills
  • Scripting experience
  • Knowledge of programming languages
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and/or Adobe illustrator or similar
  • High level documentation abilities
