You will be reporting to the Development Director.

As an Experience Designer with Maxis, you will partner with engineering, game design, research, and production teams to develop user interface and related systems from initial prototypes through final implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • You will create user-centered design processes to provide design solutions while maintaining and following an existing comprehensive design system.

  • You will create UX artifacts including experience maps, player flows, screens, content, states, wireframes, and prototypes that promote ease of use and are engaging while balancing player, business, and technical goals.

  • You will be an advocate for usability, inclusiveness, and accessibility.

  • You will find design solutions that are informed by player data.

  • You will create UI artifacts including iconography, UI mockups, and implement UI in the game engine.

Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of UX/UI experience as a UX designer, visual designer, UI artist, product designer or similar role. Your experience includes some combination of: game and non-gaming products, live service and/or social networks.

  • A portfolio demonstrating user-centered designs across multiple digital products, including creating research and data-informed designs that meet player needs and motivations.

  • Experience with user research methodologies and user data analysis.

  • Knowledge of usability principles and designing for accessibility, diversity, and inclusivity.

  • Visual design skills (i.e., composition, iconography, layout, typography, and color theory).

  • Experience with end-to-end development from the UX and UI phase and familiarity with technical UI authoring frameworks and experience implementing in engine.

  • Comfortable presenting cohesive design approaches to non-design audiences.

  • Proficiency in modern design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch.

US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):

    • $90,550 - $137,700

  • New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):

    • $86,150 - $137,700

  • Jersey City, NJ:

    • $86,150 - $137,700

  • Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):

    • $86,150 - $126,700

  • Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):

    • $86,150 - $126,700

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby (following 1 year of service), medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity."
