Job Description

We’re collaborating with Disney and Lucasfilm Games on a new story-driven open-world video game set in the beloved Star Wars galaxy. This is a lore we love and want to do justice with a game and story that bring both new and lifelong fans on an immersive and outstanding journey that will stay with them for years.

As a Lead Gameplay Programmer, you will be leading our dedicated Gameplay team. Your team collaborates closely with other programmers, designers, artists and testers. The role focuses both on leading a team and their day-to-day tasks as well as acting as the team members direct manager. You’ll have the chance to stay tech focused in your day-to-day and you will develop new game features using Massive’s in-house engine, Snowdrop™. You will collaborate with designers to design new features and be responsible for implementation and maintenance of them as well as improving existing functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Gameplay Programmers with their tasks and planning as well as individual meetings, career progression and performance reviews
  • Drive the development of key gameplay features together with colleagues from other disciplines such as design, animation, art and more
  • Balance quality and efficiency of your own and your team´s work to reach the best results
  • Push and encourage innovation within in team
  • Be responsible for building a strong and motivated team and strive to live Massives core values

Qualifications

You as a person:

You have experience from a similar role and as passion for game and game development. You like to be on top of things, and you find the success of your team very important. You co-operate and communicate efficiently with the other members of your team, both programmers and other disciplines. You are driven to support and mentor other people in their growth and development. Besides the above we’re looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:

Professional experience in C++ working as a Gameplay Programming including experience with designing, developing and shipping major systems and the entire life cycle of game development
Leadership experience
Ability to review and provide feedback to team members regarding their work in a clear and constructive manner
Experience in AAA game development is considered a bonus
