The Head Coach eSports is primarily responsible for the successful development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the eSports program. The Head Coach position recruits and develops students, creating an environment in which the team can use its skills and abilities to their maximum potential, and develops a positive image for the college and the team. This individual is also responsible for the academic and life skills development of student-athletes.
Essential Functions
- Be responsible for knowing and following appropriate policies and guidelines of the Lincoln College Athletic Department in all areas, including:
- Assuming coaching responsibilities at each contest
- Recruitment of quality student-athletes
- Organization of all practices and try-outs
- Selection and supervision of team members and support personnel (team managers and statisticians)
- Game schedules (including recognition nights)
- Evaluation of athletes’ academic progress and eligibility
- Maintenance and security of team equipment, supplies, and uniforms
- Supervision of assistant coaches and support personnel (managers/statisticians), including writing job descriptions for support personnel.
- General administrative duties related to the team functioning, including:
- Travel itinerary preparation
- Recruiting and statistics reports
- Any necessary forms for student-athletes (eligibility, letter awards, etc.)
- Class excuses for team travel
- Study Hall and Academic Programs for student-athletes
- Team meal plan implementation
- Assistance with media relations for the team
- Athletic fundraising
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- The ability to establish a good rapport and effective working relationships with student-athletes, parents, administrators, faculty, staff and the community.
- Proven recruiting skills; success recruiting high level student-athletes.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of eSports gaming platforms
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred
- Information/Computer Technology and Gaming experience
- Prior head coaching or playing experience is highly desirable.
Work Environment
- This position operates in a professional office and indoor environment and routinely uses standard office computers and computer gaming platforms.
Physical Demands
- Physical demands include standing or sitting for sustained periods of time, demonstration of computer skills, walking, reaching, talking, and hearing.
