TECHNICAL VIDEO GAME DESIGNER JOB DESCRIPTION:

ROLE - The primary function of the Technical Video Game Designer is to be a part of and contribute to a talented team of game designers to consistently deliver projects that are creatively and commercially successful.

The Technical Designer has a game or level designer background and has accomplished technical skills, creating and implementing complex technical and/or system design elements into the game.

This role includes being a technical reference for team members, who will assist, support and advise team members whenever required. A Technical Designer may also be called upon as one of the project’s technical experts on a specific game element.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Solid understanding of core game mechanics including technical elements
  • Works closely with programmers and artists
  • Works on production tasks as a game or level designer including prototyping gameplay features
  • Design and implement complex, abstract or more technically challenging features
  • Appreciation and understanding of a wide variety of game genres
  • Highly knowledgeable of current best reviewed and best-selling games
  • Ability to effectively communicate game design concepts to the design and other teams
  • Support and endorse a team approach to creativity and innovation
  • Work on a variety of games and platforms (casual to mid core & mobile/PC/Console)

SKILLS:

  • Work independently and within a team concept
  • Enjoy a variety of game design tasks (core mechanic, scripting, level, UI/UX, balancing,monetization, testing, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of software, art and sound development processes
  • Ability to consistently deliver high quality games that make a difference
  • Strong research skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills (MS Word, Excel, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years as a level, scripting or technical game designer
  • Must have shipped a minimum of 3 titles
  • Experience communicating across disciplines (art, sound, tech)
  • College or university diploma, certificate or degree or equivalent experience
  • Must complete our entry creative test
