Role Overview

The Senior Director, Technology Strategy Operations is responsible for working closely with the CTO and other leaders in the King Technology organisation, as well as the King Leadership Team, on a portfolio of projects which will involve collaboration and consultation across many departments and stakeholders in King and our parent company Activision Blizzard. The projects will be varied, but technology focused and will include both longer term strategic initiatives as well as shorter term tactical work.

The role will involve leading engagement with stakeholders, building business case analyses, resource planning, project execution, progress measurement, status reporting and overall relationship management. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Tech Leadership in framing and driving King technology strategy and with other leadership in the wider King organisation on developing, framing and executing wider strategic initiatives in King.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and end-to-end ownership of CTO and other Tech projects

  • Contribute to the senior leadership team of the Tech organisation at King and organise and run the Tech leadership forums and processes, including operational meeting structures, Tech comms channels and cross King Technology leadership organisational processes.
  • Lead the Strategy and Operations team, defining the team structure and organisation, mentoring the existing team and growing the team as appropriate in line with future required capabilities and scope.
  • Serve as a single point of communication for status of all CTO & Tech Projects
  • Lead development of business cases, including industry and market analysis
  • Create presentations outlining proposed projects, their goals and business cases, the stakeholders involved and proposed work plans and schedules
  • Coordinate and facilitate detailed scope and resource allocation estimation
  • Lead project update and coordination meetings, defining schedules and agendas and tracking outcomes, communicating regularly with all stakeholders
  • Oversee project progress and budgets, presenting regular updates to Tech and King Leadership teams
  • Perform risk analysis on all active projects and manage risk through mitigation / reporting; identify blockers or other issues for escalation
  • Facilitate project retrospectives; identify areas for improvement and learnings

Partner evaluation, negotiation and management

  • Oversee, in coordination with all required internal team and functions, assessment of external partnerships
  • Identify, define scope, negotiate, and work with King Legal and internal King stakeholders on contracting of external partners and on other contract negotiations
  • Own management of collaboration with external partners/stakeholders contributing to projects and track delivery schedules and quality of deliverables.
  • Build relationships across King and Activision Blizzard to facilitate project execution and drive successful outcomes.

Desired experience & skills:

  • A strategic and analytical business leader with extensive experience leading projects in mobile, consumer internet or media
  • Excellent relationship skills – uses high emotional intelligence to engage, facilitate and influence teams and individuals, build networks and establish strong working relationships with King Leadership.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to facilitate difficult/complex conversations
  • Excellent presentation skills with an ability to succinctly express complex topics and condense information into easily understood presentations, white papers and memos
  • Strong analytical skills – an ability to create financial models and scenarios and an understanding of project accounting practices
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, best practices and related tools
  • Previous experience working with multicultural and/or distributed teams
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and make quick decisions with limited information
  • Adaptable and flexible, detail oriented and with a strong completer/finisher approach
