What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone with a proven track record of elevating company brands, managing customer success, and meeting growth targets to be the new head of our Marketing & Development department. The Vice President of Marketing & Development oversees areas that support company growth, including: communications, brand vision, campaigns, website management, partnerships, customer retention, and customer success. You’ll manage our marketing and development team with a vision for strengthening our processes, improving our value proposition, and developing a long-term growth strategy.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have a keen interest in sport-based programming and a deep commitment to making our programs accessible for NYC families of all backgrounds. This will require creativity and innovation to identify affordable and impactful programs that meet the needs of families and communities. You’ll also need to be an effective communicator and collaborator to work with other departments and help us execute successful programs.

The key functions of your role will include:

  • Business Development & Strategic Partnerships
    • Develop a robust business growth strategy that includes cultivating new and existing partners/clients, and incremental growth in our client base over the next three years
    • Build strategic relationships and maintain strong lines of communication with existing clients, including school administrators, partners, and other key stakeholders
    • Proactively research and initiate new client relationships, qualify leads, and convert prospects into new business
    • Build relationships with district, city, and state representatives to explore government funding and community based partnerships
  • Marketing & Content Strategy
    • Set annual targets to grow customer retention from year-to-year and across our range of programs, including traditional sports and esports programs, after school programs, remote learning centers, and summer camps
    • Own brand guidelines and set the vision for increasing brand awareness through all communication channels, including digital and email marketing
    • Demonstrate strong understanding of our target audience/clients and develop an “hourglass” marketing plan that encourages repeat business and referrals to expand our customer base
    • Lead the development and measurement of campaigns that aim to build brand trust, affinity, and audience growth
    • Develop a content management strategy that pushes creative boundaries and encourages risk taking while protecting the integrity of the brand
  • Customer Success:
    • Train managers and seasonal staff to provide a high level of customer support through in-person, phone, email, and online inquiries
    • Enhance the customer experience, strengthen customer loyalty, and improve our net promoter score
    • Develop cultivation strategies to encourage year-to-year retention and long-term relationships, e.g. gifting, surprises, B2C relationship-building experiences
    • Maintain strong client-level data within Hubspot and integrate data into our overall marketing strategy
    • Implement web-based registration and inquiry tools that focus on the ease of the user experience and direct families to explore more programming options
    • Oversee the administrative processes related to customer support

What We’ll Love About You

  • 7+ years of experience in some of the following areas: business development and client management, communications, brand strategy/growth marketing, content marketing, customer success, corporate social responsibility
  • Experience managing data sets and an organization wide CRM tool; Hubspot experience is a plus!
  • Experience managing partnerships with schools/community-based organizations is preferred, but not required
  • Possess a keen eye for visuals and copy; outstanding communication skills
  • Enthusiastic team player with the flexibility to re-prioritize, multi-task and switch tasks fluidly
  • Proactive and process-driven, with ability to think ahead to full scope of projects and deliver work on time and accurately
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to execute creative campaigns
  • Ability to scale systems and processes in a high-growth, high-change environment
