WHO WE ARE

Kids in the Game (KING) is dedicated to empowering New York City’s youth through sports, creativity, and play. KING is a leader among NYC-based sports-based youth development organizations and works with 20,000 children each year. Our work is focused on achieving five ultimate impacts:

  • Enhancing emotional intelligence
  • Creating a positive sense of self
  • Developing NYC into the nation’s top talent hub
  • Integrating our communities
  • Narrowing the income inequality gaps

KING has experienced rapid growth in recent years, being named #1188 on Inc Magazine’s 2018 Fastest Growing Companies list and #24 in the Education category. Our programs can be found in more than 60 schools across NYC, where we offer recess, PE, after school and enrichment programs, along with our signature sports teams and day camps. We are also actively expanding into eSports and other technology programs, operating the first middle school eSports league in the country this past spring. Our company is proud to be a pending B-Corp, and we are continuing to deepen our impact through our foundation, KING Kids, which provides scholarships to help those in need access our programs.

In the next six months, we are focused on expanding our full-time team (currently 20 of us!) across core areas with content experts who will share and support our bold vision for the future, as well as seasoned coaches and youth develop professionals to manage our growing school-based programs and teams. Visit us online at www.kidsinthegame.com to learn more about our programs and the KING team.

  • Attend and seek out speaking engagements at industry events, conferences, and community initiatives on behalf of the organization
  • Spend more than half of the work week traveling around NYC to visit existing programs and identify potential clients/partners
  • Assist with identifying staffing needs, interviewing candidates, and helping coaches integrate into the school setting
  • Provide direct support to 30-40 part-time coaches through site observations, trainings, performance evaluations, and informal check-ins
  • Oversee the daily operations of a 6-8-week, full-day summer camp, including tasks related to: child/family engagement, programming, special events planning/field trips, and staff supervision
