Kabam Vancouver is looking for a Software Developer Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our central technology team to support our game teams, who run our systems in their games. You will bring a consistent and reliable testing framework to our various development teams to help improve code quality, development works and ultimately game health, as well as alleviate QA needs on performance testing and basic functional testing. You will have the opportunity to work on systems that cover various areas of development technologies, including, server, client, service reliability; build features on existing technologies, or by expanding technologies that we currently have. Also enjoy the flexibility to focus on areas of your personal interest.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Help the central development teams discover acceptance criteria in user stories
  • Measure and reduce the rate of defects escaping central development into game development (and even worse to players)
  • Execute Testing methodologies and optimize coding-standards
  • Review unit tests written by developers
  • Optimize and refactor existing code for improvement
  • Implement, maintain, and improve CI/CD systems.

In order to be successful for this role, we are looking for:

  • A quality-oriented candidate with a background in and passion for helping others to improve the quality of their output
  • A high degree of understanding for integration tools and automations into test planning
  • Proficiency in software engineering fundamentals such as source control and CI/CD pipelines
  • The ability to write and automate a variety of tests from automated tests, API tests, or performance tests
  • Willingness to learn a diverse range of workflows and process so that they can influence and demonstrate to other development and ops teams

In addition, It would be nice to have:

  • Familiarity with a variety of programming/scripts languages
  • Comfortability with game development and/or web development
  • Comfortability with app containerization, virtual machines or similar technologies
