We're looking for an Accounting Co-op to join our high performing and fast-paced accounting team for a full-time 4-month co-op starting in January. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Accounting Co-op will assist the Accounting team with processing accounts payable, month-end reconciliations, and updating company records. This is an excellent opportunity for a sharp student to take their knowledge into practice in an exciting industry with unique challenges.
In this role, you can expect to:
Process accounts payable including communicating with external and internal business partners, validating, processing, and recording invoices
Set up vendors in the systems
Review internal expense reports along with corporate credit card reconciliations
Record bank transactions and apply payment to invoices
Prepare intercompany journal entries related to the recording of invoices
Assist with the preparation of month-end journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash and prepaids
Prepare and update process documentation to ensure that certain accounting policies and internal procedures can be memorialized in writing
Other ad-hoc tasks and/or projects as opportunities arise
Your background includes:
Enrolled in a post-secondary institution seeking a Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
Completion of fundamental accounting courses
Pursuing a CPA designation is an asset but not required
Practical general accounting experience in a professional or volunteer setting
High attention to detail
Strong communication, both written and verbal
Solid proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly in Excel), and Google Workspace/G-Suite
Proven track record of being self-directed along with exceptional organization and research skills
Flexible and willing to go that extra mile to gain more knowledge and experience
Demonstrate the capacity to manage ambiguity and shifting priorities while remaining calm and controlled
$24 - $26 an hour
The typical hiring range for this position located in Vancouver is between 24-26/hr. The salary will be determined based on your knowledge, skills and competencies, and you’ll have room to grow after you join!
