Jam City is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to partner directly with our studio team based in Culver City for our Spring 2021 program. We are looking to build awesome new experiences in our C++ engine for our global player community. While some may find this a bit daunting, you relish the opportunity to learn and to contribute at a more fundamental level. In this role you will work with our seasoned technical team, immersing yourself in the development process for running a live game, while shaping those players' experiences for years to come. Our Spring 2021 internship program will be entirely remote.

Internship Program Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate university program in the U.S. during the Spring 2021 semester and able to intern remotely through April 2021.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US on a part-time basis during the Spring 2021 semester. Visa sponsorship is not available for our internship positions.
  • Be able to work on a part-time basis (up to 20 hours per week)
  • Deadline to apply for our Spring 2021 program is December 1, 2020

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Working with the engineering team to create features which improve the overall fun and challenge of the game.
  • Writing clear, reusable code that is easily updated as the game evolves.Ensuring your features are stable and well supported by using performance profiling, looking for optimizations, and checking use cases within the code, CI, and our designer tools.
  • Participating in an agile environment, keeping the team aware of your progress so QA and code reviews happen in a timely fashion.
  • Working effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a friendly and supportive remote environment.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate college program in the U.S. during the Spring 2021 semester (February 1 - April 9)
  • Able to work on a part-time basis (up to 20 hours per week)
  • Passionate about games and game programming.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of game engines and object-oriented design, with a curiosity to learn more.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly incorporate feedback, and to ask clarifying questions when uncertainties arise.

About Jam City’s Internship Program:

Jam City’s Spring 2021 Digital Internship Program will take place from February 1 - April 9, 2021 and will be entirely remote. Students can expect a paid, part-time (10 - 20 hours per week) internship working alongside Jam City’s business and studio development teams. Within internships, students gain valuable insights into our products, players, and industry. Our program allows students to work on impactful projects, collaborate with industry professionals, and develop problem solving skills through real hands on experiences. We’re looking for students that bring curiosity, creativity, and an interest in mobile games.
