Job Overview:

As an Anti-Cheating Specialist, you’ll use your vast game knowledge to deep dive through data captured about our players, make informed and fair decisions whilst driving progression within the team with a real focus on making our game environments safe, fun and engaging places to be. You’ll provide bespoke insights using your analytical skills to drive decisions across Jagex and ensure that we remain player obsessed.

You’ll maintain a high level of integrity, accountability, and confidentiality, working with personal and/or sensitive data provided from both internal and external sources.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work on the creation and enforcement of detailed risk mitigation across a broad range of specialties with the aim to protect our products from all existing and emerging threats, including (but not limited to!):
  • Research, quantify and build comprehensive understandings of the specific threats faced across multiple products and look for creative solutions to remove and mitigate those threats
  • Create regular reports to keep various stakeholders across Jagex informed of any emerging threats and issues
  • Provide input and where applicable direct participation in the development of bespoke, anti-cheating specific, tools and systems
  • Perform detailed investigations of infringing activity and assist in the creation of documents to support legal proceedings where appropriate.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team with high levels of autonomy
  • Strong understanding of gaming communities and culture
  • Excellent verbal and written communication backed up with a proactive approach to knowledge sharing.
  • Familiar with SQL with a desire to learn other languages such as Python or other scripting languages
  • You’re well versed with the Microsoft Office product suite
  • Ability to make fair decisions without personal feelings clouding the correct execution

Desirable Skills:

  • You’re an avid RuneScape or Old School player who knows how to navigate Gielinor with ease
  • Awareness of cheating methods within games
  • You are familiar with copyright enforcement and fair use
  • Understanding of the Atlassian product suite
  • Technical expertise in how computer software works and communicates with each other

  • To ensure coverage, you will be required to work two weekends per month
  • In light of the current situation concerning coronavirus, any successful applicant will be onboarded in the team remotely. However, in normal circumstances, this position would be based at our offices in Cambridge, UK.
