Intrepid Studios is looking for a passionate, experienced and talented Senior Game Designer, interested in creating a brand new world in Ashes of Creation. Our Senior Gameplay Designer would be a person who loves to get their hands dirty in all the design disciplines, and who likes to work outside their comfort zone in order to better learn their craft. They are interested in leveling up junior designers, meticulous in documenting features, and have a passion for prototyping and implementing new features. They must work well with others, enjoy collaboration, and are comfortable receiving, acting on, and supplying constructively critical feedback. Most importantly, they must live and breathe MMOs.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the leads and game team to create fun and interesting gameplay experiences
- Prototype and iterate on core game mechanics to make the product’s vision come true
- Participate in the final implementation of gameplay systems and content
- Stay on the bleeding edge of modern design and gameplay philosophies
- Write design documentation, and keep current documentation on systems and content assigned
- Proactively find problems with gameplay and come up with solutions
- Mentor and guide junior designers along their path toward mastery
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the industry as a game designer
- Experience in content and systems, curiosity in both
- Ability to both conceptualize, analyze and implement game ideas using various tools and technology
- Background in an object oriented scripting or programming language
- Excellent understanding of video game culture and knowledge of games
- Excellent knowledge of Unreal 4 a major plus
- Experience with MMOs or multiplayer games generally a plus
- Leadership experience a plus
- High level of creativity
