Pop culture Community Marketing Manager- Insight Editions

Location: San Rafael/Berkeley, CA

Through its acclaimed film, television, and gaming program, Insight Editions creates unique books, novelty gifts and collectibles that provide new ways to engage with fan-favorite characters and stories from World of Warcraft, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, DC Comics, Marvel, Deadpool, Batman, Star Wars, Friends, Harry Potter, Disney, and many more.

Insight Editions is seeking to hire an experienced Community Marketing Manager to establish and maintain relationships with licensing partners, community leaders, bloggers, online fan sites and content creators to reveal new products and drive traffic to our e-commerce platform and online customers. The ideal candidate has a proven digital marketing background and a passion for TV, Movies, gaming, and entertainment culture. You are a social media fanatic with a sixth sense on how to find and build fan relationships with highly engaged communities on multiple platforms and then rally them behind a new product launch. If you can name the top fan sites or social networking sites for Star Wars, Elder Scrolls, and/or World of Warcraft and can easily strike up a conversation and engage them in a specific activation, we want to talk to you.

The successful candidate must be able to employ their advanced knowledge and understanding of the social media landscape, blogger and online trends, and best practices to build preorders, sales, engagement, and awareness for new books, collectibles and gift products. You have a proven track record in social media with 5+ years of direct hands-on experience executing digital marketing campaigns to achieve specific traffic and activation goals. You thrive in a metric, KPI driven environment. This position reports to the Marketing and eCommerce Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Use your organizational and process-building skills to draft and execute marketing plans, ranging from pre-release reveals to launch and post-release activations, including digital advertising, cross promotional partners, sponsorships and affiliate marketing initiatives
  • Execute and scale social media programs with fan based communities. Build excitement for new releases, preorders, and ongoing sales and drive traffic to our site through announcements, exclusive reveals, and video with call to action links.
  • Collaborate with licensors and other licensees on cross-promotional opportunities, social media, giveaways, in-person events and a host of innovative marketing programs.
  • A disciplined, proactive mindset in fostering and building relationships. Identify and establish relationships with suitable content creators via Twitter, Facebook, Twitch and other social platforms and online sites to publish promotional content.
  • Produce and execute influencer mailings to drive user-generated content and unboxings to promote social proof.
  • Plan and manage in-person (when safe) and online consumer events. For in-person events: Booth planning, activation management, time management, talent management, and more at events like ComiCon.
  • Manage affiliate partner program; ensuring proper payouts, delivering media, and driving growth.
  • Other responsibilities as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field. 5+ years professional experience with proven success in community/content management and affiliate marketing. Experience networking with Nerdist, @SYFYWIRE and similar.
  • Deep understanding of brands, fan communities and culture. Experience growing online revenue and social media traffic. An avid networker that stays abreast of the entertainment industry and gaming trends and emerging platforms. A do-er, not a delegator. A proactive participant and catalyst, not a spectator.
  • Expert proficiency with social media management, digital and affiliate marketing. Savvy, knowledgeable, and passionate about social media platforms and best practices, including experience running social media marketing campaigns on Twitter, Twitch, Facebook, and Instagram. Knowledge of paid social, TikTok, YouTube, and deal site activation is a plus.
  • Technical Skills - Intermediate experience with:
    • Google Suite: Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides
    • Adobe Suite: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere
    • Shopify.
    • CRM software like Zoho
  • Experience in publishing preferred but not required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Has the ability to read an excerpt of a book quickly and write key selling points. Has the ability to communicate salient selling points visually.
  • Very detail oriented and highly organized. Ability to multi-task and problem-solve. Can prioritize work and resources across multiple projects. Deadline-driven.
  • Independent, self-starter who can take ownership of key projects and bring them to completion.
  • Exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing a direct report including coaching and developing individuals for success
  • Proven success and ability in managing a high volume of SKUs and product lines.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills

This is a full-time position, currently remote, with a possible opportunity to work in our San Rafael (preferred) or Berkeley offices, pending a safe work environment in this COVID world.
