We believe China is leading the world in gaming, and that the next generation of game worlds will be developed by the prosperous Chinese Game Development Community. We are looking for talented individuals to join our Shanghai Office, our core hub and headquarters for APAC Operations.

Accountabilities

You will be accountable for the success of Improbable’s games in China. Improbable developing boundary-pushing, innovative, player-focused titles made for international audiences. We see the Chinese speaking market as one of the most important and largest opportunities. We are looking for a seasoned leader to be accountable for bringing our games to market, helping us understand the dynamics of the China market and navigating the ecosystem and regulatory environment in China.

The Chinese speaking market is vital to having an internationally successful game. We are piloting globalizing our games and are looking for someone to us realize making global titles, by articulating and responding to local needs. Because we are pushing the boundaries of technology, innovation while putting gameplay and players at the center of everything we do, we believe our games have immense potential in China. We’re looking for someone who can drive success.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead adapting our communications via relevant channels in China (such as WeChat, Weibo, etc).
  • Courting and cultivating relationships with influencers in China on relevant channels (such as Weibo, Bilibili, Douyu, etc) so they understand our vision, values and product; and can advocate for them
  • Securing positive press coverage for our titles and updates
  • Navigating the complex world of regulations and bringing our games to market on relevant store fronts.
  • Handling the larger Chinese speaking regions, including Taiwan and Hong Kong
  • Enabling PC Cafe’s to thrive and support our games
  • Adapt global campaigns to be relevant and impactful in the Chinese markets
  • Coordinate with the global teams in marketing, advertising, player support and localization

Requirements:

  • At least 8 years experience in bringing successful games to market, including experience in publishing/marketing in China
  • Fluent in written and verbal Mandarin; Functional in written and verbal English

Experience of the following would be advantageous

  • Strategic thinking - ability to discern the most impactful activities and structure plans to lean into them
  • Quantitative orientation - ability to call KPI’s and track progress towards them
  • Self-Starter - Ability to operate autonomously and drive projects forward without getting each piece assigned.
  • Campaign Creator - Experienced in creating multi-disciplinary publishing campaign plans that are targeted and strategic; then executing on them
  • Fluent in written and verbal Mandarin; Functional in written and verbal English
