Title: Director of Events

Reports to: COO

Direct Reports: Community Outreach Coordinator, Immortals Street Team, Events Independent Contractors, Brand Ambassadors, Event Coordination Staff

LA’s premier esports organization is looking for an experienced and passionate Director of Events. The Director will be responsible for the ideation and execution of Immortals experiential marketing opportunities and overall presence at relevant events e.g. competitions, esports conventions, partner activations. He/She will be responsible for the Immortals fan experiences that showcase the brand and build a strong connection with our passionate fan base. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in fast-paced (e.g., start-up/rapid growth) environments, capable of wearing multiple hats, and inspired to create the best events for fans and the gaming community. You will work closely with our passionate team of content creators, marketers, and team operations managers to achieve our goal of becoming the leader in Esports community and event building.

We are a tightly knit team that functions under the larger umbrella of Immortals, a global esports organization based in Los Angeles. Founded in 2015, Immortals raised strategic investment from AEG, Lionsgate, and other major investors. Our teams play competitively in the biggest gaming competitions in Super Smash Bros, Overwatch, Dota 2, CS:GO, Arena of Valor, Clash Royale, and more. Immortals strives to create a long-lasting and inclusive community of professional gamers, aspiring players, and passionate fans united by the goal of competitive success.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Passionate about esports and the gaming community
  • Significant experience designing and executing consumer focused live events both paid and free
  • Strong understanding of how to package events as part of a broader marketing and community building strategy
  • History managing both internal resources and external vendors to promote and execute on event plans
  • Demonstrated expertise in integrating brand sponsors and running live activations for partners
  • Strong network in and understanding of the consumer live event ecosystem
  • Responsibilities:
  • Event strategy and execution
    • Spearhead our overall events business from event ideation, to marketing strategy, programming and production including
      • Open/Invitational Tournament Events
      • Community building initiatives
      • The opening of our new home venue by 2020.
      • Oversee annual events budget; build out and manage our event infrastructure and capability; including hiring, training, and managing our events team as well as our Brand Ambassadors and fan based Global Street Team
      • Execute and coordinate event logistics including negotiating and brokering deals with vendors and external partners for maximum profitability
      • Liaise with our creative and social media teams, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure successful event promotion and alignment with overall company objectives
  • Event follow-up and continuous improvement
    • Oversee content created for events, captured at events, and created using images and video from events.
    • Establish KPIs to determine and drive success
    • Collect data from events and suggest recommendations for improving event quality and fan engagement
  • Partnership fulfillment
    • Develop and renew experiential activations and engagement opportunities to bolster fan participation and deliver on sponsor and partner goals
    • Ideate potential partner activations and turnkey event activations
    • Represent us as the go-to for events and partnerships internally, for external stakeholders, teams, brands, and businesses.
