This is a great opportunity for a CPA to be the face of accounting operations at IGN Entertainment (“IGN”). The role is highly visible and interacts with all levels of personnel and management at both IGN and its parent company, Ziff Davis LLC.

The position offers the opportunity to lead the financial statement reporting cycle as well as the vendor and customer cycles for the Company. Other responsibilities and points of influence will include: contract drafting with customers to ensure compliance with ASC 606, projects related to the SEC requirements of J2 (the parent company of Ziff Davis LLC), revenue analysis, expense management and research on emerging accounting standards. You will also be a key voice in deciding how we leverage new accounting and financial systems applications to positively impact how IGN transacts business.

Position Description

  • You will be the face of Accounting Operations for IGN. Develop relationships across IGN and the parent company that promote a high degree of trust, accountability and transparency in results.
  • Develop an understanding of the Company’s business, contractual agreements and transaction terms to lead the monthly financial statement close process, assist in budgeting and forecasting, and manage cash flows.
  • Lead a team of two employees to produce monthly and quarterly financial statements in accordance with our parent company’s requirements and deadlines.
  • Establish good relationships across IGN’s departments and assist operators in managing and executing their business processes for order to cash, procure to pay, revenue recognition, expense accounting and payroll related accounting matters.
  • Manage the local bank accounts for IGN Entertainment and ensure cash settles all intercompany arrangements on time and according to the terms of the underlying agreements.
  • Ensure that our ERP application and its supporting databases are always up to date with the most current information pertaining to customers, vendors and employees.
  • Perform research of relevant accounting guidance to develop points of view on accounting treatments for presentation to parent company management.
  • Work with your counterparts in other companies across our global consolidated company to ensure consistency in accounting treatments and promote transparency in results.
  • Participate in ad-hoc financial and operational analyses to inform strategy.
  • Maintain files and documentation in accordance with Company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  • Assist in M&A due diligence, purchase accounting, deal closing and integration activities.

Position Qualifications

  • B.S. in Accounting and a C.P.A. is required. Demonstrated expert knowledge of revenue recognition standard ASC 606 is also required.
  • 10+ years of total experience. At least 3 of which where you were in a significant accounting role as either Controller, Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager for a Company with revenue in excess of $75MM.
  • A customer service mindset with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with NetSuite, Salesforce.com, and SAP Concur for Accounts Payable or similar large complex enterprise wide ERP systems.
  • High level of organizational skills.
  • Experience in a Sarbanes Oxley environment.
