We are looking for an experienced Technical Designer to join the team in our Central London studio. Hutch is a dynamic games studio on a mission to build a portfolio of games that offer authentic automotive themes on top of proven and popular mobile models - so we widen their appeal beyond motorsport fans to anyone who likes great games. We build games that acquire and retain in a way that allows us to grow and service them for years.

Reporting directly to the Game Director, the Technical Designer will be responsible for crafting the core gameplay experience and ensuring it works in harmony with the wider F2P game structure. Depending on the title, this could involve track design, car setup/handling, opponent design, progression balancing, customisation, cameras and more.

We are looking for a designer who loves cars, motorsport and racing in any form and want this person to get deeply involved in making our games feel engaging and authentic to other car fans.

Requirements

If you can prove the following, we'd love to hear from you:

Ability to work independently and efficiently as part of a small, fast-moving team.
At your happiest getting your hands dirty with the tools available and being the driving force (pun intended) behind overall gameplay quality.
A passion for mobile games and racing games.
A good understanding of free-to-play, and how it combines entertainment and business goals.
Ability to contribute towards game design, including meta-game and economy decisions.
Attention to detail in balancing complex sets of game data.
Easy-going attitude - being flexible with new ideas and most importantly open to direction and iteration.
Ability to communicate and collaborate with the Game Director and other team members to deliver your area of the game to the highest possible quality.

Advantageous:

Highly proficient in Unity.
Held a key design role on at least one mobile title.
Have examples of your design work that we can try.

Know a thing or two about cars, motorsport or racing (this can be any aspect - street racing, car wraps, F1 technology, drifting, etc).
