Game Director - London

Hutch is looking for a Game Director with proven Free to Play (F2P) games experience. You will lead a cross-functional game team, based in London, to develop and grow the on-going success of one of our existing titles.

You should be collaborative, creative and self-motivated. You will have a strong understanding of games-as-a-service, F2P and Monetisation. Your goals will be to own the product vision and deliver commercial results whilst looking after the needs of your team.

You will motivate the team; guiding others to excellence and maximising their potential. You should embrace Hutch’s value of being a great place to work, empowering your team and avoiding any sense of top-down culture.

We are keen to find someone who wants to adopt a lean methodology - getting content into real players' hands as quickly as possible, putting work where it’s needed and with a focus on what makes a difference to create game experiences that the market really wants.

The role will involve working closely with the title’s Producer, Product Managers and Designers and reports into Hutch’s Director of Product and COO.

Hutch supports its employees and helps them develop and grow. We would welcome candidates with proven Product Management or F2P Design leadership expertise who are looking for the next step in their career.

Requirements

  • Creative direction. Establish and maintain the high-level vision for your product including positioning, audience and ambitions. Comfortable providing product direction across all disciplines (Art, Gameplay, Economy, Data, UA, etc).
  • Responsibility for commercial success. Confidence in navigating the entire F2P business model including engagement, monetisation, technology, user acquisition and brand building.
  • Leading your team. You will have a wide range of management and production practices at your disposal, optimising engagement and productivity in your team, whilst instilling it with the culture and values of Hutch.
  • Realistic delivery. You will be a key part of ensuring that ambitions for the game can be translated into effective and achievable tasks for the team.
  • Running a service. Balance the needs of the players and the business as you run a live title. Consistently build on product strengths and address weaknesses to ensure long term growth.
  • Ensuring clear communication outwards to the rest of the business including creating clear decks/documentation for internal and external comms.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Product passion. Great games make great business. You need to be driven to deliver an amazing player experience that keeps players highly engaged and delighted for years.
  • Commercial management. Ability to own and direct a F2P business, understanding the key drivers of the F2P model and how live operations can be used positively to drive both the quality of the player experience and commercial outcomes.
  • Leadership confidence. Comfortable leading a cross-functional game team, with outstanding communication, motivation and management skills.
  • Industry knowledge. Deep familiarity with the wider mobile gaming space including charts, disruptors and strategic trends and an ability to feed this knowledge into your decision-making processes.
  • Actionable approach. A laser focus on always moving things forward, breaking strategies into a tactical plan and ensuring delivery against that.
  • Humble and curious. Open to the fact that no one has all the answers. Eager for feedback and taking on-board ideas from your team, the wider team at Hutch and the ever-evolving industry.
