Job Description

• Curate and assign content pieces of a selection of news stories, evergreen, tournament recaps, and breaking news.
• Have a working knowledge of major esports titles including League of Legends, Dota 2, Overwatch, CS:GO, Call of Duty, and Rainbow 6
• Assign topics to staff writers and communicate proper pitches upwards to Content Manager
• Create articles that “react” to announcements, suspensions, controversies, etc
• Partake in content planning and discussions with management
• Create captivating headlines that people want to engage with
• Use strong news judgement to justify editorial decisions
• Consult with Content Manager on how to treat breaking news items throughout the day
• Proficient at publishing content on Wordpress
• Excellent editing skills
• Basic photo editing skills (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.)
• Proficient at publishing content on social media

Requirements

• A degree in English or Journalism is preferred or equivalent work experience
• Experience in esports media; editing is preferred
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
• Willingness to take on other projects
• Flexibility with regards to scheduling and an ability to work nights and weekends.
